Overcoming Barriers: My BCA Experience at Brainware University

My Path to choose Brainware University

I chose BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) to complete my college education. However, the problem is that most top colleges in Kolkata demand a background in science or computer applications for admission to BCA. So, I was rejected due to my arts background of 10+2.
After searching the internet, I found Brainware University. By reading its college reviews, I saw that it has a strong placement record and excellent infrastructure.
Fortunately, Brainware accepts students from all streams, including my 10+2 arts background. My parents took a loan of Rs. 50,000 for my admission as my financial condition was not good. To get financial assistance for the next semesters, I applied for the West Bengal Student loan.

The professors at Brainware University helped me very well

In my first semester, I faced a challenge due to the long distance from the campus. I traveled around three hours each day to attend lectures. Therefore, I didn’t have enough time to study or review the study material shared by our faculty. Despite all of these challenges, the professors at Brainware University helped me very well. They are highly professional and knowledgeable, and you can easily approach them for study-related help. They treat us like friends and always encourage and support us in our academic journey.

Besides teaching, they also help us to choose the correct path in terms of value-added courses, extracurricular activities, etc. With their support, I finished my first semester with an 8.9 SGPA, which would not be possible without their help. As I moved into the second semester, the same pattern continued, and I slightly improved my SGPA to 9.1. However, the daily journey was extremely difficult for me, and I decided to stay at a nearer location to my college. I decided to move into a hostel in Barasat during my third semester. By staying closer to the university, I was able to give my full potential and time to my studies, and this decision helped me in my progress more effectively. 
Besides this, I found some friends in the first semester, but till by the end of second semester, I found myself alone. After that, I found some friends in my class, and they are really good. They helped me every time, and still now we are enjoying our college journey together.

Various Facilities at Brainware University

Brainware University provides an excellent learning environment. The campus is well maintained, with fully furnished classrooms and well-equipped labs. It has a central library with all the essential books where you can get the book physically in your hand or you can read them through the online library system. The campus also offers two types of WiFi access. The first one has a free data limit of 34 MB per day/mobile number. The second one gives up to 1.5 GB/day for every profile. However, to access this system, you have to stand nearer to the food court, and you must have the login details. The details are usually sent by the college authority via email. The green surroundings, with both small and large trees, create a pleasant atmosphere on the campus. However, in extreme rain, you can see an extremely good nature view from the buildings.

Increased Difficulty Level

At Brainware University, exams are conducted with strict discipline, and not a single cheating is allowed. During each exam, generally, there are at least 2–3 faculty members in the classrooms who closely monitor each and every movement. In the earlier semesters, they usually gave us suggestions/practice sets to help in our preparation. But starting from the third semester, they announced that no further suggestions would be provided to improve the study culture. This change has increased the level of difficulty and made it a significant challenge to pass the exams if you don’t prepare properly for the exams. I also support this action, as this exam process ensures that all students have to maintain honesty and work hard to get good marks.With the support of our faculties, I am hopeful to get an excellent placement after my course . We have a good placement department and they are taking different types of sessions like boot camps, soft skill classes, etc. from the first semester.
