over time, cybercrime has increased, leading to a shift toward cybersecurity as a profession. when doing business online or storing sensitive information, it is necessary for cybersecurity professionals to protect critical data. since it is a platform used by everyone, cyberspace is available to users anywhere in the world. the cybersecurity field extends beyond the physical location. individuals interested in pursuing a career in federal cybersecurity must have the appropriate training and skills. to begin a career in security, one must first choose an appropriate computer science degree or training in cybersecurity. another way to improve your skills and stand out from the competition is to obtain a certification in cybersecurity. this will likely cause potential employers to review your resume with greater interest. a degree in computer science is a great place to start and will qualify you for entry-level cybersecurity positions. however, if you want to work for the government, you will need to have some basic cybersecurity certifications. these certifications can come from companies such as Microsoft and isaca (information systems audit and control association), which is primarily concerned with governance and risk management.
