The Department of Peace Studies at MIT World Peace University introduces a new course Master of Arts in Peace and Conflict Management, which stands with the amalgamation of Indian and Western discourse of Peace, examines developments and debates around the conflict and practical action in an increasingly complex and turbulent world.

In today's complexly interconnected, globalized society, conflict is an unavoidable and frequent occurrence. The layers of conflict necessitate a thorough comprehension of societal and psychological peace, which is essential for cooperation, stability, and success. Effective communication and negotiation abilities are a sensible part of this understanding because they are essential instruments for resolving conflicts. Peace studies are therefore very important in modern society. Students who study peace studies in college are naturally aware of current events and sensitive to cultural differences. Fostering communication and comprehension helps children who possess these abilities develop into adept mediators who can deftly negotiate a variety of situations. These qualities penetrate the business sphere and go beyond interpersonal interactions.

At the heart of M.A. programme is the commitment to understanding the intricate dynamics of conflict and the multifaceted approaches to resolving and managing incompatibilities.

They will gain from their understanding of peace studies in various facets of their lives. They will support the development of a calmer environment at work. Their adept use of conflict mapping will not only help resolve conflicts but also foster the development of cooperative work environments that prioritize the requirements of their staff. The corporate sector can reap significant advantages from having individuals who comprehend peace concepts, given its diverse teams and extensive network of interactions. Furthermore, as our graduates actively participate in peace-promoting initiatives, the idea of corporate social responsibility will expand. They will contribute to the establishment of socially conscious organizations that place a high priority on peace by bringing ethics and conflict resolution techniques into the corporate sphere.

We have envisioned the Master Course in Peace and Conflict Management as multidisciplinary and as raising the bar for peace education in order to use these proficiencies professionally. The curriculum is designed to be both rigorous and interdisciplinary in theories and practices. This holistic approach equips our students with the analytical tools and practical skills needed to address conflicts at all levels—from interpersonal disputes to international conflicts. The Course covers topics such as conflict resolution, peacebuilding strategies, human rights, diplomacy, negotiations, and international law, ensuring a well-rounded education.

Our faculty comprises leading scholars and practitioners in the field, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. They are dedicated to mentoring students, and fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and innovative solutions.

Graduates of the MA in Peace and Conflict Management programme will be prepared to become leaders in a variety of fields, including international organizations, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, and academia. They will develop with our programme not only with a deep understanding of conflict and peace but also with the passion and skills to make a tangible difference in the world.

In these roles, they assist organizations in managing intricate interpersonal and cross-cultural dynamics, mediating conflicts at work, and creating inclusive and collaborative work environments. Additionally, academic and research institutions provide graduates with the chance to teach, research, and publish in the field of peace and conflict studies, all of which broaden the discipline's theoretical understanding. The idea of inculcating the culture of peace in our society is the mandate of our university, and the M.A. in Peace and Conflict Management is one way forward to it.
