Q: What is the process and eligibility criteria for admissions at SRM Institute of Science and Technology?

A: To apply for admission in BTech programme at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, the applicant must fulfil the eligibility criteria. The criteria say the applicant must have a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Candidates aspiring admission in any of the Biotechnology courses must have a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology.

The eligible candidates need to fill up the online application form for SRMJEEE (UG).

Basis the results in the qualifying exam, the candidates are called for counseling sessions where they are given preference to choose the specialisation and branch of their interest.

Q:  What is the total fee for Four-year BTech programme? Is there any scholarship or loan assistance facility available to students?

A: The total cost of the programme varies between Rs 2.5-3.75 lakh depending on the course. There is an additional one time fee of Rs 10,000 to be paid in the first year.

The Institute also offers scholarships to meritorious students. First 100 rank holders of  SRMJEEE exam get 100 per cent of scholarships. Remaining students can also choose to go ahead for education loans. We have tie-up with few selected banks such as SBI, ICICI Bank, Bank of India, City Union Bank and IDBI Bank who facilitate education loans to students.

Q: Can you guide us on the exam pattern?

A: SRMJEEE is a computer-based online test. The exam is divided into five sections, namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English and Aptitude. There will be a total of 125 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) which carries one mark each. There is no negative marking. The exam will be of two and a half hours of duration.

Q: What are the placement trends? Which companies visit during the placement drive to the institute

A: The Institute has a track record of excellent placements. So far, the Institute has placed over 8,400 students in various companies such as Google, Microsoft, HCL, Honeywell, Huawei, Hyundai, Hitachi, HUL and Genesys.

This year over 600 corporates showed active participation in the placement session by offering super dream (package>Rs 10 LPA) and dream (package Rs 5 LPA-Rs 10 LPA) offers to over 1,879 students. The highest package witnessed by the Institute is Rs 41.6 LPA by Microsoft.

Apart from this, Amazon made offers to 18 students of  Rs 32 LPA, Udaan made four offers of Rs 30 LPA and Barclays made 25 offers of Rs 10 LPA.
