SRM Institute of Science and Technology Faculty FAQs

The below-mentioned are SRM Institute of Science and Technology faculty FAQs:

Q:   How is the faculty at SRM University?
A:

SRM University Kattankulathur has a wide array of faculty comprising of more than 500 teaching staff and more than 1,500 non-teaching staff. Most of the faculty members are highly qualified and Ph.D. holders from some of the top institutes across the world. Many other international faculty visit the campus for guest lectures for academic and research purposes on an ongoing basis. This gives both the students and the faculty greater opportunities for mutual interaction and learning.

Q:   How is SRM Chennai in terms of faculty, infrastructure, placement, etc.? Is it worth going to SRM if you want a bright future?
A:
  • College Infrastructure: SRM has a well-defined layout in terms of infrastructure. The campus is spread over a large area, with all the basic facilities provided. There are huge grounds and indoor courts for sports; the gymnasium is made for the students of the college. The library is technically advanced and has a good collection of books. The classrooms are well maintained with smart boards installed, and the washrooms are clean. The canteen has diverse varieties of food that are hygienic and affordable.
  • Academics: CSE has proven to be a good course for me as it aligns with my interests and liking for computers and programming. The course is well updated, and even the curricula followed in college fall in line with the skills required in the job sector. The course has a lot of research and practicality, which definitely makes one job-ready. The teachers are cooperative and experienced, and they mentor each student at every point.
  • Placements: Approximately 70% of the students get hired in the recruitment drive held by the college. The placement drive is held in the most efficient manner. The average package is around 5 LPA, which is a good kickstart for any student in their respective fields. The college has a placement cell that is responsible for inviting firms to the college and guiding fellow students in getting placed, hence making the college supportive. The placements must be inclusive of all the courses, which is a demerit.
  • Value-for-money: The annual tuition fee structure was a bit on the expensive side, as my yearly fee was around 3 lacs p/a, which might not be affordable for many students. But the quality of services and education, with all the basic amenities, make SRM worth the investment. Personally, SRM is making each penny count.
  • Campus Life: Though the college is isolated from the main part of the city, it is glorious from the inside. There are sports activities in the college and many cultural societies, like dance and music societies. Moreover, there are various clubs that keep on participating in educational competitions. Various seminars are held and several festivals are conducted throughout the year, making college life happen. There's a medical room to handle any emergency as and when it arises!

Good college overall but very crowded. Good for college life.

Faculty: Faculty may vary. The course curriculum is not as modern as some of the newer institutes but the content is very detailed and comprehensive covering a huge number of topics. Semester exams are easy even easier than class tests. Grading is very lenient in semester exams. The pass percent is 50 percent.

I am absolutely dissatisfied because their way of teaching is very bad.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and supportive. Their teaching quality is very good. The course curriculum is good. Semester exams are average, and we can score above 9 percent with more hard work. The support from teachers is good.

No doubt in infrastructure, but not happy with placements and facilities being a little.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful and supportive for doubt clearing; many provide theoretical and practical teaching. Some faculty members have extensive experience. There is a focus on only completing the syllabus quickly. Exams are generally of a moderate level, not too hard, and easy too. Minimum passing marks are 40%.

Satisfied with the infrastructure and good experience here.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is also decent. The curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are so easy. Almost everyone here gets a decent CGPA and passes because semester exams are really easy. There is a 60:40 ratio between the internals and end-semester so it's easy to pass because of the internals.

Is SRM worth spending our time and money on?

Faculty: Many teachers are qualified and are exceptional in their subjects. Some teachers are not good, and even after reporting them, no action is taken. The course curriculum is very much up-to-date and is up to the ongoing trends. We can become industry-ready if we put in some effort from our side. Semester exams are quite easy and can be passed with planned preparation.

A quick review for SRMKTR.

Faculty: The teaching quality is above average also considering the faculty members are average only because it is not that good to be honest. The course for 1st year isn't really that relevant but the other years will make you industry-ready. That pass percentage is 80 to 85 percent. It isn't really that hard if you come to study.

Beautiful campus but with strict attendance policy and unbearable heat.

Faculty: Teachers are very friendly and every teacher is a PhD holder with a good set of knowledge. The curriculum is manageable. It does make the students industry-ready with a practical approach for their upcoming life. The semester exams are easy if you study for a week or so for them.

Greatly satisfied with the faculty and placements.

Faculty: We have very knowledgeable and very helpful faculty on campus. They are very friendly with the students. Curriculum is different, not like other colleges, we ourselves make a timetable with respected course. Regarding the difficulty of exams, it all depends on the slots of the paper, but overall, it lies between average and good.

Overall review of SRM from an ambitious students' perspective.

Faculty: Teachers are tough luck, like genuinely. I have had teachers who are IIT grads and teachers who are SRM grads with Ph.D.s as well, and there is a stark difference between them. That's the downside of this place, it's the quality of education for those who are really interested in learning. The course curriculum is the same as any other college, whether government or private. Let's face the truth, no college makes a person industry-ready unless the student itself wants to delve into the same and ...

Lovely days at my college.

Faculty: Teachers try, but to be honest, for our course they are bad, actually pretty bad. The curriculum is good, and you can score decent marks if you prepare from the resources, as you will find a lot of resources to help you. Semester exams are actually pretty easy, but the issue is that you have exams throughout the year, so it is pretty exhausting. You have three cycle tests for each subject every semester. Then there is the final semester exam, which is only 40 marks. The remaining 60 marks come f...

My college is asia number one of tamilnadu.

Faculty: 75 percent above is the pass mark for moving to the next semester. Attendance is strictly maintained for career growth and to choose the best work for future level goals. The college supports cultural activities and helps us prove our talents in the college and learn who we are and what we have in our mind.

About good and enjoyable college.

Faculty: The faculty to students ratio is overall good. The relationship between the students and faculty members is very good. My best faculty is Dr. Kirigalan, he is a good professor, and he will always be open to help students after the college time also. The course is well structured. We can expect 7 to 8 subjects for each semester, and everything is easy to understand.
