Prof Mani Govil, Assistant Professor (Economics) at NMIMS School of Business Management- Mumbai (Narsee Monjee), Vile Parle West has an experience of more than 12 years. She has completed her PGDM – Finance from IMT Ghaziabad, MCom. Applied Economics, NET Economics. Her research interest is banking, investment analysis, macroeconomics and foreign trade. She has published more than 10 papers in national and international journals and also presented some in seminars and conferences. She excels in teaching subjects which includes Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economics and Policies.

Q. What are the salient features of the teaching methodology adopted by your college? How does this differ from others?
We use case studies for analyzing economic situations and managerial decisions. Also, the use of smart boards helps the faculty to deliver efficiently. It helps to shuffle between easy note, powerpoints and internet resources easily. It also helps the students to understand better.
Q. How are you preparing your students to be Industry ready?
We prepare our students by using case studies on each chapter, arranging guest lectures with industry experts and giving them opportunities to attend summits and workshops, students get much more exposure.
Q. What are the qualities you are looking for in student applicants? What qualities do they need to do well in your course?
The ability to comprehend and apply managerial concepts to business practices which means having the urge to learn new things is very important.
Logical reasoning and an open mind are very much needed in my course.
Q. How do you ensure that your course curriculum is up to date and meets industry requirements?
The board of studies updates the course curriculum every six months after consulting subject experts, teaching faculty and industry experts.
Q. Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship? How? Could you cite some examples of these?
The college uses smart boards for delivering lectures. We have also tied up with TCS for preparing question bank for exams. We have a student portal for marking attendance, students have access to the SVKM portal and various online library resources, etc. which shows the kind of technology used by the college.
