Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) conducts board exams for both Class 10 and Class 12 for the Punjab state. PSEB conducts Class 12 board examinations for Science and other major streams. All the students appearing for PSEB Class 12 board exam are required to study four compulsory subjects, which are General English, General Punjabi or Punjabi History and Culture, Environmental Studies and Computer Science. PSEB 12th Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme for Biology

According to the PSEB 12th exam pattern, the duration of Biology exam is three hours. The total marks allocated for the examination are 100 — 70 marks for theory paper, 25 marks for the practical assessment and 05 marks for the internal assessment.

Key Preparation Tips for PSEB 12th Biology Examination

The students should formulate a plan to understand the basic concepts to secure a high score in the exam. Some of the important tips to prepare for PSEB Class 12 Biology exam are discussed below:

  1. Plan it out: To secure high scores in the board exams, the students should create a timetable and strictly adhere to it. Equal time must be allotted to all the topics as this will help in completing the syllabus in a planned and organised way.
  2. Practise time management: In many cases, the students leave out questions during the examination as they are left with less time to attempt these questions. Therefore, the students must focus on managing time during the exam. This can be achieved by solving/ answering the questions in the minimum time possible during the preparation.
  3. Take breaks: Every student needs to take breaks during the preparation to relax and enhance concentration. While making a schedule, the students should allot time for breaks as well, which can involve activities such as listening to music, eating, going out for a walk, meditating, etc. 
  4. Solve the previous years’ question papers: Practising PSEB 12th previous years question papers is important to get an insight into the pattern of questions in the exam. Hence, the students should practise the previous years question papers regularly to enhance accuracy.
  5. Take mock tests or model papers: After completing the syllabus, the students should practise mock tests or model papers daily to assess their preparation. The students should try to solve these papers in the prescribed time to enhance speed in the exam.

PSEB compartment exam dates 2026 will be announced after the result is announced. Separate date sheets will be released for Class 10th and 12th exams. The compartment exams are conducted for students who fail in one or two subjects.

In 2025, overall pass percentage in PSEB 12th exam was 91 per cent. A total of 265388 candidates appeared in the exam. Girls performed better, with a pass percentage of 94.32%, while boys had a pass percentage of 88.08%.

Yes, Punjab Board releases the PSEB 12th Toppers List along with the result. In 2025, Hasirat Kaur topped the PSEB 12th exams with a perfect score of 500 out of 500, followed by Manveer Kaur and Arsh, both scoring 498 out of 500.
