Confidence boosts up your performance in MBA Exams
By: Vivek Kumar
There are a lot of prospects and options even after a below-par performance in the MAT exams.
The Management Aptitude Test is conducted by AIMA to facilitate Business School to screen candidates for admission for MBA and allied programs. Earlier, it used to be conducted in Computer-Based Tests (CBT) and Paper-Based Tests (PBT) however, this time AIIM has planned to for IBT mode because of COVID-19. You need to have a strategic preparation plan to crack MAT Exam. It is one of the most widely taken tests by the management community and serves as a passport to over 600 B-schools in India. It is a moderate difficulty level exam where speed and time plays a vital role during the examination to score well. Thus, the candidate has to plan in such a way that they can attempt maximum questions with higher accuracy at that time. MAT is conducted 4 times in a year February, May, September and December.
Congratulations if you got a good rank, hard work pays off. To select a good college you can use a college predictor of Shiksha by visiting this link: https://www.shiksha.com/mba/college-predictor. To choose the best college, look for parameters like campus exposure, academics, and most important placements. If it sets fit for you, then go ahead. Wish you all the best for your future.
Now we will focus on all those paths, which can be options if you were unsuccessful in this attempt. You must give yourself a second chance.
Re-attempt:- As MAT gets conducted 4 times in a year and you just graduated with flying marks. If you have realized that you had prepared well for this exam, however, could not make it due to lack of revision or knowledge of question paper, then you should re-attempt for sure. This time you will be more confident and passionate. Re-plan your schedule and go ahead. Prepare well, solve several mock tests, analyze your mistakes in them, take steps to improve them, speed up your calculation, improve grammar if possible and be in contact with people who are also preparing for the same. Make yourself confident enough before attempting the next mock. Do whatever it takes to make sure you do not repeat the same mistakes again. Confidence can boost up your performance so think positively and keep yourself boosted that this time you are going to crack it.
Preparing for GATE:- If you are from B. Tech. background and you are good in core subjects of graduation, however, lack in aptitude and reasoning, then this can be the best option for you. First, check the exam pattern you are planning to prepare for and plan accordingly. Do not get into something blindly. Analyze the popularity of the exam and potential future in the field.
Career Change:- If you are not satisfied with what you are doing and have any start-up idea in your mind which you are absolutely sure of, then it can one of the options. Do whatever makes you feel worthy, regardless of how much money you earn. Do not overthink at the beginning of something, everything looks complex at the start. Everyone gets a new opportunity to grow and challenges may differ from person to person. It is okay to go after your dream if you identified it late in life.
Continue with Corporate Life:- If you were doing admirably well in the previous job and gave MAT just to test your abilities, then it can be one of the options for you to go back to the previous routine. Corporate life is something in which not everyone can make their space. If you succeeded in marking your presence over there, then it time to re-think regarding work profile change.
The last choice is yours; do whatever you think is good for you.
