Find out what Dharitree Das, a BBA graduate from IED, has gained from her college days.

Mystory@Dharitree Das

I had decided to choose a professional course to get into corporate world and so the management stream was the best out of everything. First of all, I decided to go through the syllabus which gives a brief knowledge about the study. I found all the topics of each and every subject of all the six semesters very interesting, and moreover I was looking for a study which will give me practical knowledge of the type of profession I will serve.

My college life

The college I had chosen was Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (IED) (under Utkal University) which is a part of MSME department. It provides BBA, IMBA, Fashion Designing, Distance MBA (with specialisation) and other professional courses along with entrepreneurial training. While studying in this college I not only found it better than the rest in academics but also in co-curricular activities, entrepreneurship events, management functions, etc.

Now I am preparing for CAT to pursue MBA as my post-graduation study. And I am grateful to the online and offline advertisements of this college which have given me excellent faculty members to motivate me to learn new things and not only get a degree by going through books.

Now this is the best part of the college I have mentioned as faculty members have supported and motivated us not only as our teachers or guardians but also as our parents. I have many teachers and faculty members who are my favourite like Nanda sir (Accounting) who made everybody fall in love with Accounting, Cost and Finance Management, and Business Law; Manoranjan sir (Mathematics) who made our fundamentals strong and taught us easy ways to tackle problems; Bhoula sir and Girish sir (HR) who told us many stories about Indian and international businessmen and industrialists and the morals; Shraddha ma’am who took care of the hostellers in every aspect and I was one of them; and Nibedita ma'am (Psychology) who although was one of our teachers but was more like a friend to all students. Last but not the least my friends, seniors, and juniors have also supported and encouraged me to overcome my fears; to find ways to get over obstacles.

I can never forget the memories of my graduation and I am thankful to both who supported and who opposed because they gave me the reason to learn positive things constantly. And I have got a whole of a family and it’s called IED which includes everyone in the college.

Average placement is around ₹4–6 LPA. Marketing usually offers broader opportunities, while Tourism & Hospitality is good if you’re specifically interested in that sector; both have scope depending on your career goal.
