At Madurai Kamaraj University, we believe that in order to improve our students' talents, they must be given opportunities to express their creativity. Cultural programmes are held numerous times a year to stimulate creative endeavours and to cultivate talent. Students establish groups and share responsibility for event planning.

Dance: Dance is one of Madurai Kamaraj University's most active and diligent clubs. It has over a hundred members. Members perform a variety of dance styles such as hip-hop, Hollywood, salsa, folk dance, classical, freestyle, and modern, among others. The Dance Club operates on the basis of learn, teach, and perform.

Music: The Music is a location where students can jam, learn, and create music of all styles. Throughout the year, the club hosts a variety of activities ranging from huge intra-campus shows to competitive musical competitions. Club of Fine Arts Art is intended to be a natural part of life. Madurai Kamaraj University's Fine Arts Club assists its members in developing an artistic sense. Films, Animation, and Media The club provides a venue for anyone interested in learning more about animation. The club's activities include creating 3D models with various software and creating short animated films (both 2D and 3D). We work with a variety of technologies, including 3ds Max, Toon Boom Animate Pro, Adobe Flash, Premier Pro, boujou, and others.

At Madurai Kamaraj University, students have the opportunity to gain admission into a number of PG-level courses to pursue a career in their field of interest. Candidates are selected by the university for admission based on their scores and position on previous qualifying exams.

MA, M.Com, M.Sc, MBA, MCA and M.Lib.Sci are courses offered for master's programme. Students admitted to this university must go through achievement scores as the selection of all programs is based on merit and there is no designed entrance to any one program.

To gain admission, students must graduate from a UGC-accredited university and earn at least 50% in their senior year.  

University Hospital renders 24 hours services to the Students, Staff, families living in the University campus and to the public from 40 neighbouring villages. Treatment is provided with nominal charge. There is a 24 hours Ambulance facility, X-ray unit, Lab, we equipped labour Theatre. ECG, nebulizer etc. MKU Hospital also works in collaboration with Apollo Speciality Hospitals.

The Directorate of Distance Education at Madurai Kamaraj University has a fitness center available to all staff members, students, and outsiders. In addition to this, there is also a separate fitness center for women. There are several other gyms near by such as:

To facilitate conduct of international, national and important University events such as conferences, workshops, seminars, meetings, placement programmes and cultural events, the University has two big auditoriums, preview theatre and Dr.Mu.Va.Hall.

All of them are well-furnished, air-conditioned and equipped with modern projection and audio systems with access to internet with the latest Vc's teaching aids like LCD projector, slide projector and over head projector.

Educational cassettes are also projected in these theatres in consultation with subject staff.

Madurai Kamaraj University, also known as MKU, is a reputed state University in Madurai. Institute of Correspondence Course and Continuing Education was started in 1971 in MKU. It was renamed as Directorate of Distance Education in 1996.  It is recognised and funded by UGC and is a member of Association of Indian Universities. It has been reaccredited by NAAC with grade A.

The Madurai Kamaraj University Directorate of Distance Education, a statutory college institution, was founded in 1971.
