Daily Life: Food, Amenities, and Strict Rules

  • Food: A central, purely vegetarian mess operates out of the Cauvery block, which serves South Indian as well as North Indian meals

  • Amenities: High-speed campus Wi-Fi, basic gym equipment, and outdoor sports fields for cricket, football, and basketball. Rooms have a basic bed, study table, chair, and a locker

  • The Strict "No-Electricals" Rule: Zero-tolerance policy for high-power appliances like iron press, electric kettles, immersion heating coils, or heavy sound systems in your room. Hostel wardens conduct regular room checks.

RVCE Hostel FAQs

1. Can first-year students choose their roommates or blocks?

No. You can't! The first-year boys are dynamically assigned to the Chamundi, Cauvery Annex, or Krishna blocks, while first-year girls are assigned to the Diamond Jubilee block. Roommates are randomly allocated based on branches and enrollment sequence during physical reporting.

2. Why can't I bring an electric kettle or iron to my room?

These are banned for fire safety. High-power appliances draw too much electricity. They can easily overload the building's power grid and lead to electrical failures. The college already provides hot water dispensers and laundry services on campus; you can use them.

3. Is the food provided in the RVCE mess completely vegetarian?

Yes. The common central mess located in the Cauvery block serves purely vegetarian food. It offers structured regional South Indian and North Indian meal menus, providing students with daily breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner. Non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited inside the mess hall premises.

4. What alternative housing options are available if campus hostels are full?

Because hostel seats are highly competitive and run out quickly during physical reporting, many students opt for private Paying Guest (PG) accommodations or shared apartments. There are multiple student-reviewed PGs and co-living spaces located within a 1 km walking radius of the Mysuru Road gates and near the Pattanagere metro station.

Admission happens only through KEA or COMEDK counselling for merit seats, and even Management Quota seats require a valid PGCET or KMAT rank.

Yes, RV College of Engineering offers scholarships. The college focuses on sports quotas, merit-based state admissions, and corporate or government aid. The institution itself provides limited direct funding, but actively supports multiple external and trust-sponsored financial reward programmes.
