To be eligible for admission to any bachelor's programme at Cotton University, candidates must take the CUET test. Nonetheless, it is advised to have strong grades in every subject, with a cumulative percentage of roughly or above 90%, in order to be admitted to the upper secondary level. Cotton University offers various UG, PG and PhD courses, such as BSc, BA, BCA, MCA, MSC and MA. Admission to all the courses is entrance-based. The university accepts CUR-UG for admission to UG courses and conducts a university-based entrance exam i.e. CPGEE for admission to PG courses. Applicants seeking admission to any of these courses must appear in the entrance exam and score well to grab the final seat.

Cotton University in Guwahati has a good placement record. According to the NIRF report 2023, 13 UG and 95 PG students were placed during the placements.
