Average experience for the first batch of the fisheries course with scope for future improvement.

Placements: This is the first batch of the fisheries courses. There are no official campus placements. No companies came to our campus for a placement and there are no salary packages available in our batch. The reason is that our department is still a newly formed department, which means that the placement cell is still at a developing stage with no connection with industry yet. In most cases investigated available opportunity is outside the campus such as his farming.

Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is moderate, the classrooms are adequate and suitable for instruction with the specialised laboratories for the first year programme, where scarce given that this is the inaugural batch and the department is still evolving. Essential amenities such as the library and Wi-Fi exist but there is a need to enhance the supply focus book tools and hands on materials. Overall infrastructure is acceptable but has scope for improvement.

Faculty: The instructors are competent, well informed and mostly supportive. This is the group for the Fisheries course, a few faculty are recently recruited, yet they made efforts to assist students and clarify ideas effectively. The overall standard of teaching is average. The syllabus is theoretically pertinent. It falls short in preparing students completely for the industry because of insufficient practical experience and field activities. Additional practical training is needed. Semester exams have a level of difficulty. Students who consistently attend classes can succeed without issues. The pass percentage is good and most students clear their exams on time.

Other: I selected this course because of my fascination with the fisheries and aquaculture industry and its potential prospects. The course offers a theoretical understanding of fisheries and aquaculture. The cohort, both the course and department are still in the process of evolving. Hands on experience, site visits and engagement with the industry are restricted. Additional practical training is required to prepare students for the industry. College events and festivals occur frequently are held from time to time. The campus population is respectable and well behaved. Campus connectivity is average, with peaceful surroundings. Scholarships are available as per government rules. Extracurricular activities need more encouragement.
