Review of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University.
Placements: In our course, students get brief and detailed information about each topic used in the mechanical world. Our batch was good towards automobile engineering so students made different cars for state and national level competitions. Students were members, conveners, and presidents of different events.
Infrastructure: Students had clubs for technical and non-technical events along with a reading room. It provides a library, grounds, and a gym facility was also available. There were five hostels for boys and 2 for girls. The campus was clean and full of greenery along with tracks for practice.
Faculty: Teachers were very supportive and great motivators. Whenever needed students can approach them directly without any hesitation, and they had industry-oriented subjects whose topics were related to the latest technology. The level of the exam was moderate but the questions which were in the exams can help students in future industry.
Other: The latest equipment and passion for automobiles forced me to opted for this course. I got a chance to participate in different technical and non-technical events.

Absolutely good teaching facility as compared to all private colleges of Punjab.
Placements: The internship and placements in our college were not impressive. But every student got an internship in a good company. Final placement packages were not much good. Teaching is good there, and experienced staff is best with the knowledge, but it is difficult to find.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good, but government college infrastructure can't be compared with the private colleges. Especially the mechanical engineering department and civil engineering department has a lot of equipment and laboratories for practical knowledge.
Faculty: The course curriculum was structured by Punjab Technical University, and it was good and same as top engineering colleges of India. Senior faculty members were excellent, and they have good knowledge, and they were also helpful. I don't know the student to faculty ratio, but I feel there is no shortage of faculty.

Get quality education and find a job on your own.
Placements: Apart from textile engineering, the placement scenario is very gloomy for the rest of the engineering domains. Most of the students choose the route of placements mela or through their personal contacts. Even in the case of an internship, there is no support from college authorities. Rajesh Gupta Sir is the only person who is working hard for placements.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is really good. All departments have their own dedicated laboratories. The college has one of the best infrastructures in North India even better than IIT Ropar, NIT Jalandhar. Smart classes, library, canteens, computer labs all are at par as compared to other colleges in the state.
Faculty: Faculty is a mix of both experienced as well as young professors. Senior faculty are one of the best parts of the college. Their lectures are a mix of theoretical concepts and examples of the industry. Talking about young professors, some are really good but some are really not up to the mark.

Dissatisfied because of poor placements, food and disappointing faculty.
Placements: The college doesn't provide any internships just like most of the other engineering colleges. But people get the internships on their own easily. Talking about the placement scenario, it's not up to the mark for mechanical students. My senior batch's placement rate was 15%, and since the placement team worked hard for our batch, we achieved a placement record of 30% including the placements done by core mechanical companies like ISGEC Mahindra (Swaraj) etc.
Infrastructure: As it's a government college, the campus is huge, clean and green. It has all the major sports grounds. As the college is 30 years old, a few buildings are old, but they constructed new hostels, an academic block and an auditorium during my time. Laboratories are good here. The food served in the mess is average.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are highly qualified. But I noticed a decline in the standards of faculty. The college starts taking ad-hoc teachers who are not up to the mark. Although the college has all the lab equipment and infrastructure, there are no good instructors. The college conducts industry visits every year, and those visits are very helpful.
Other: There are so many committees which organise their own fests. NDA and NSS programmes are very prominent in this college. Students won many prizes not only at the university level but interuniversity and national level as well. Nightlife at the campus is good, but the issue is the canteen will not be kept open for 24 hours.

I would suggest you to keep this college as your last option.
Placements: Apart from B.Architecture and textile engineering, placements are below par for other branches when compared to market standards. As the college is located in a far-flung area, the HRs of companies would prefer to pick students from other good colleges that have an advantage of location.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is really good, keeping in mind that it is a government institute. You will find all the facilities related to academics, sports, and IT. Moreover, workshops here are one of the best in the region. There is a dedicated workshop for every domain.
Faculty: The course curriculum is not modified as per the current market demands. The institute has one of the best faculty members in Punjab, but they are all indulged in administrative work. Most of the lectures are taken by young faculty members with zero teaching and real industry experience.
Other: Mechfest and college fest are the highlights of this college.
