B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2024
1.4
I am not satisfied with this college.
Placements: Many students got placed in our college. The average salary package offered was INR 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are good. Hostel facilities are not better. The food served in the canteen is not good. Our college focuses only on infrastructure.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, but few of them don't have good knowledge. This course curriculum does not make students industry-ready. They do not teach anything related to the competitive market. The management does not focus on the growth of the students.
Other: I opted for this course because of my interest in building software, etc. This college forcefully pushes the students into the classrooms to maintain attendance.

Poor placements for mechanical engineering students, average academia.
Placements: Got placed in muSigma and was offered a pathetic salary of 3 Lacs, college advertised my placement as a job that was offering 40 Lacs for 4 years. Little to no support for mechanical students, not enough placements and very poor outreach. Enraged by how the tnp cell is handling everything .
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is pretty bad, labs are antiquated and need a revamp, quality of food is decent but very inconsistent. There is a sick room in the campus but they don't have many medicines. The college is kept very clean on the outside but the bathrooms are pretty bad and there's no water at times.
Faculty: Some of the professors are great but most of them are not. The curriculum is extremely dated and has little to no relevance to today's industry standards. A lot of the people who join GITAM, join the CSE programme. Over the course of 4 years I have realised that it is not that hard to pass exams and the system of continuous evaluation has been formulated so that you can pass with ease.
Other: Exorbitant for what it's offering and the amount of knowledge that you gain over the course of 4 years is either too irrelevant or not deep enough to help when you are out working in the industry .

It is an excellent college but I am dissatisfied with limited industrial exposure.
Placements: Placements in our college are excellent. But the salary packages offered are not that good. The average salary package offered was 3.2 LPA. Most of our batchmates got placed in Hyderabad and Bangalore software companies. Tata Consultancy Services, Capgemini, Infosys, Syntel, and Wipro visited the campus for recruitment. About 95% of students got placed in 2017.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is excellent with modern classrooms, free Wi-Fi, library, canteen, sports ground, well-equipped laboratories, and a parking area. The hostel was good with air-conditioned rooms, and the food served in the mess was good with different varieties for festivals. Security and common study rooms were available.
Faculty: Faculty members in mechanical engineering were good and provided us with good knowledge and skills. They supported us in every part to study, to learn, to gain knowledge, in exams and labs also. The mentorship was great. The course curriculum was good, but it has to be well designed for industrial exposure too.

I am satisfied with the college in every aspect.
Placements: Companies like HBL Power Systems, Amar Raja and SGD pharma visited our campus for recruitment. Around 5 students from a total of 10 students for placed. The highest salary package offered was around 4 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was varying from 2.5 LPA - 3 LPA. All the students have done their internships in different companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good as it consists of a number of labs for the students with advanced machines. There is a skill development centre in our college, and it consists of CNC lathe, CNC milling, 3D printer and a robot arm.
Faculty: Teachers of our college are well knowledgeable. The entire syllabus is normal. All the faculty members are from NITs, and they are all from the research background. They provide practical knowledge that is used in the industry. Some part of the course curriculum makes student industry-ready.
Other: I chose mechanical because it provides practical based learning.

Joining this college is a waste of money as its fee structure is high.
Placements: The placement opportunities were less for the mechanical branch. For the core branch students, L&T, Cyient and other small companies visited the campus for placements. Only around 10-15 students were selected out of 400. L&T hired only one student whereas, Cyient hired almost 8-10 students. Other than the core companies, a lot of mechanical students were selected for Tech Mahindra with a salary package of around 3.2 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was very good. Labs, classrooms and library in the college were good. The campus has 3 canteens and one Subway. Quality of food provided was good. The living environment and hostel were good. The hostel provides laundry and iron facilities but is a bit expensive as Rs. 7,000-8,000 is charged per month.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful. Some are well qualified while some are less qualified. The quality of teaching is below average. Rather than learning from their lectures, we can easily understand the subject by watching Nptel videos on YouTube. The course curriculum followed by the college is not the best.
