Outdated Curriculum, Poor Facilities, and Below-Average Placements.
Placements: In my batch, most of the seniors are placed at companies with a salary below average, with almost no options available to them. Most of the companies recruit for full-stack developers and currently some AI roles with companies, namely Infosys, Cognizant, LTI Mindtree, Deloitte, Accenture, IBM, Byjus, Amazon, Capsitech, and other mid-sized companies. Students are mostly placed in Capsitech for internships. In my batch, 75% of students got placed.
Infrastructure: Overall infrastructure is good, Wi-Fi is available but at very slow speed, Classrooms are big with big windows but no AC (air conditioning) in most of the classrooms. Library is very big but most of the books are back date. Medical facility is good but average. Canteen food at Faculty Hostel is good but at students hostels it is below average. Sports and Game Facilities includes a Football ground with less maintenance, a basketball court on which mostly faculty's cars are parked and is very slippery during rainy season, there is a Gym too with old but usable equipment.
Faculty: Most of the teachers hold M.Teach degree, some of the faculty hold Ph.D. Degree and are highly helpful and knowledgeable. I am from this depth so I can tell some of the teacher and good and some are the worst. The curriculum is old and will not make industry ready. Semester exams are easy to pass as it is an autonomous college.
Other: I choose this because this branch is new, the syllabus is comparatively newer than other existing branches. Best thing about my course is fields like AI and Data Science jobs are in trend today. Improvement: The course should be structured to prepare a student at an industry level with some irrelevant subjects. Events and Fest are rare and even if conducted the ambience is very poor, and the college is very remote with the worst connectivity with, the fastest way to reach Kolkata is by train through Haldia station while train timing being very rare.

Review of Haldia Institute of Technology.
Placements: On the basis of last year's record, 85% of students are placed from our branch. The average package is 5 LPA. Viston is one of the top recruiting companies for this course. On average, most of the students got internships in many companies. Many types of roles are offered here.
Infrastructure: Mess food is average, better than many hostels, medical facilities are always available (BC Roy Hospital), and many sports events are conducted (college annual sports and many more like this).
Faculty: Teachers are quite helpful, and they have good teaching techniques because they are sufficiently qualified to teach their respective subjects. In this course, you can learn those things that will help you grow in the future. Semester exams are moderate. Passing percentage is good. Faculty members are supportive in this department.
Other: I was eager to learn core electronics and network systems, so I enrolled in this course. It gives in-depth knowledge of network systems and core electronics gadgets, which are quite interesting.

This college is good and valuable for money but there are better options.
Placements: I think that the placements of our college are pretty decent as I have seen that companies are visiting our college on a regular basis. But the average package is pretty low around 4 LPA - 5 LPA and not much but though the highest is 40 LPA but it is on campus so I do not know.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is overall okay. There is a good amount of lanes, and the buildings are okay. But then they are pretty old. There are Wi-Fi, classrooms, and shelves but they are pretty old I would say. The facilities in the hostel are all there but the paint is bad. The hostels are pretty old. Our hostel is also outside the campus and away from the college so it is a headache to go to college every day.
Faculty: Some professors are absolute legends like, they actually teach, explain concepts properly, and treat you like a person. But then there are others who walk in with slides, read them word-for-word, and vanish before you can even link. If you do not understand anything, thats your problem. Since the college is autonomous, the curriculum is up to date, I think. The semester exams are overall pretty easy. The pass percentage is around 70-80%.
Other: I chose it because I got it in counseling. It has better campus, environment, and area. Till now we have not seen a fest but events are held regularly.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028

4Placements5Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
Good for the B.Tech course.
Placements: About 83% of students are placed in the Electrical Engineering Department. 30 LPA is the highest package of the last passing student, 3.5 LPA is the lowest, and 5 LPA-6 LPA is the average package of the campus last year. JSW is the top recruiting company for the course.
Infrastructure: The Electrical Engineering Department provides a good environment. Library is also very good for all the students to study for their respective subjects. Hostel facilities are good, but the food is not so good for the students. Medical facilities are available on the campus. Sports and games facilities are good on the campus.
Faculty: All the teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good, and all the teachers help the students to understand the theory easily. Semester exams are difficult, but before the exam, the faculty provides practice questions so that students can improve their practice for the exam.

Supportive faculty and good campus life with scope for more industry exposure.
Placements: Around 70%-80% of students got placed from my course. The highest package offered is around 12 LPA, the lowest is about 3 LPA, and the average package is approximately 5 LPA-6 LPA. Top recruiting companies include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and Tech Mahindra. About 50%-60% of students got internships, mostly in companies like TCS, Cognizant, and local startups. The top roles offered are software engineer, system analyst, and associate developer.
Infrastructure: The department offers well-equipped classrooms with projectors, a good library, and basic lab facilities. Wi-Fi is available on campus, though the speed can be improved. The hostel rooms are decent, with adequate cleanliness and basic amenities. The mess food is average but manageable, and the canteen provides better options. Medical facilities are available on campus for emergencies, and there are decent provisions for sports and games, including indoor and outdoor activities.
Faculty: The teachers in the college are qualified, experienced, and approachable, offering support whenever needed. The teaching quality is good, though some subjects could benefit from more practical examples and real-world applications. The course curriculum is moderately relevant, providing a solid theoretical foundation but requiring more industry-oriented modules to make students fully job-ready. Semester exams are of moderate difficulty, testing both conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills, and the pass percentage is usually high, allowing regular students to clear with consistent effort.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in and the opportunities it provides in technical fields. The best aspects of the course are its strong theoretical foundation, experienced faculty, and exposure to basic practical projects. However, I wish there were more industry-relevant projects, updated labs, and internship opportunities to better prepare students for the professional world. The campus life is vibrant with regular technical events, cultural fests, and competitions, which enhance learning and social engagement.

Reality behind four pillars.
Placements: Not many students get placed. But the average salary package offered is quite good enough to manage, as in a private college. The highest salary package offered depends on how well one masters a skill to get into a multinational company. If one has good skills, one can crack into any company.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good from outside. But when you get into it, classrooms are not properly maintained and floors are cracked everywhere. Main attraction for students is the campus of Haldia Institute of Technology which is big enough for a private college in West Bengal.
Faculty: Teachers are experienced enough to manage, but not highly experienced or talented in solving problems. Till now, I haven't encountered any teacher skilled enough to handle boarding classes. Proper syllabus management is missing and syllabus completion does not take place.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to. But after getting into it, I finally understood how difficult engineering could be.
