HIT is known for its Chemical engineering department with good infrastructure and faculty.

Placements: More than 85% of students get placed, and some students will opt for higher studies like M.Tech through GATE and other examinations. Haldia Petrochemical is the best company that offers a package of 9.3 LPA to the chemical engineering students. Apart from that, many companies like Barzar, Asian Paints, Capgemini, etc., hire students with a good salary.

Infrastructure: Food quality is well-maintained. If there is any problem regarding the food, then there is a dedicated system where we can complain about the food. It gives us the assurance to maintain the food quality for the next time, and also provides us with an apology.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is very relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. The difficulty level of the semester exams is moderate. We need 40% to pass semester exams, i.e., 30 marks from the semester, and 10 marks from internals.

Other: Chemical engineering is a very reputable department at HIT, so I chose it. The college provides good placements in this department.

Haldia Institute of Technology offers a well-balanced academic environment.

Placements: More than 80% of students get placed. The highest package offered is around 12 LPA by top recruiters in the core and IT sectors. The lowest package is 3 LPA for entry-level roles. The average package offered ranges from 4.5-5 LPA, depending on the branch and students' performance. Top recruiting companies for our course are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, L&T, IBM, Vedanta, and Adani Wilmar. Core companies also visit to hire students from the mechanical, electrical, and chemical branches. Around 60-70% of students from my course received internships through college placements. Companies offering internships include TCS iON, CESC, L&T, Capgemini, and several startups from the Kolkata and Haldia industrial belt.

Infrastructure: In the library, all books are easily available. The fastest internet is provided. Hostels are well-maintained with spacious rooms, Wi-Fi connectivity, purified drinking water, and 24x7 electricity backup. Security is good, and wardens are cooperative. The mess serves a balanced diet with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The taste is average but hygienic. The campus canteen offers more variety and snacks at reasonable prices. The college has a tie-up with a nearby hospital and provides a health center on campus with basic first-aid. A doctor is available during working hours. Labs are well-equipped.

Faculty: All teachers and professors are very friendly and helpful. Their knowledge is amazing. According to my own experience, the chemical engineering course is valuable. Semester exams in our college are basically not so difficult, but sometimes it is. Faculty members are approachable and supportive.

Other: I chose my course because of my interest in technology and engineering, and Haldia Institute of Technology has a strong academic reputation, experienced faculty members, and a good placement record in my field. The course curriculum is well-structured, covering both theoretical concepts and practical applications. Industry exposure through internships, workshops, and seminars is also a plus point. While academics are strong, more industry collaborations and hands-on projects could be introduced. Updated lab equipment and an increase in specialized electives would further enhance learning. The college hosts vibrant cultural fests.
