Good infrastructure, value for money.

Placements: Many students don't go to the job field after graduation instead they go for higher studies and if they want to get a job they get placed as freshers in banks or corporates, mainly as sales executives. The top recruiting companies are TCS and HDFC banks.

Infrastructure: Economics doesn't require any labs but if anyone is in geography for them there are labs. The classrooms are good, neat and clean we have big libraries. There are teams of football, cricket and many sports activities. Intercollege or intercollege sports events happen. Food is good in the canteen also and cheap.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful they are like friends. Economics is a very relevant subject in today's world if you do higher studies you will get a good job. The examination is held by Calcutta university so it depends not on the college whether it will be easy or not.

Other: This college has annual fests, it has many sports events going around in college and the most exciting part is that every department held annual excursions with the students which makes the departmental bonding very good and is very fun.

I am satisfied with the infrastructure and faculty members. Overall, it is a great college.

Placements: Our economics batch is comprised of 20 students. About 15% of students got internships from our course at HDFC Bank, YES Bank, SBI, etc. The highest salary package offered is between 5 LPA and 10 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA.

Infrastructure: The classrooms are pretty decent. There are blackboards and projectors. There are smartboards in some classrooms. The surroundings and atmosphere are good. The food available in the canteen is tasty, hygienic, and inexpensive.

Faculty: All teachers in our department are highly qualified and well-educated. They are very friendly and helpful. They solve our doubts when we ask. They know how to teach, which any well-educated teacher can do. It's a pretty good thing for us.

Absolute value for money, with the perfect student friendly ambience with absolute positive outcome

Placements: There is a seperate chamber for placement where students are trained how to present themselves, many well known companies visit our college, and almost 80% students gets placed. The companies offer 20-40 thousand salary per month, which is quite good.

Infrastructure: Our college does not provide hostel facilities but we have a beautiful canteen, a small ground, 2 libraries, a remarkable auditorium, big classrooms. We have our college football team. There are 3 different labs. The canteen provides delicious food at very cheap rates.

Faculty: The teachers in this college are the best both in terms of qualifications and in terms of behaviour. They know students by name. The attendance during the course is a must, because marks are awarded according to it. The level of teaching which is provided make the students industry ready.

The college has bad placements and average infrastructure.

Placements: Please don't expect any good placements from this college. All you get are sales jobs with only 2-3 LPA, and that's the highest package here. It's not at all fruitful. No good guidance is provided for internships.

Infrastructure: The teachers in our economics department are genuinely good. They love to teach and never miss classes. The infrastructure is old as you'd expect from a government college. The canteen is average. Sports faculty are not available. The auditorium is good and recently renovated.

Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and very knowledgeable. The teaching quality can be rated 10 on 10. The course is very relevant. The pass percentage is 33%. Semester exams are moderate. Attendance is strict, so it is better not to skip your classes. The course doesn't make you industry-ready at all.

Other: Fests don't exist here. The union has immense control.

Review of Heramba Chandra College.

Placements: There were hardly any placements. Only two firms visited our college that too with BPO level jobs. Upskilling workshops are not conducted here.

Infrastructure: It is a state-sponsored college, so the fee was extremely low, which was always a good thing. The library was huge with all the necessary books. Sports facilities lacked very much as there was no ground and no gym. The common room was in a dilapidated state.

Faculty: Teachers in our college were good, competent and helpful. However, the course is very much oriented to academics. We do not gain industry-level skills. It is very difficult for us to score marks which put us at a disadvantage in the job market where we compete with the engineers.

Other: I had an amazing experience at this college.

It is a good college with some scope for improvement.

Placements: The placement cell wasn't the best, and few recruitments done weren't of enough high quality for most of the students. The placement cell needs more attention and needs to be more proactive to ensure more students to get placed through the cell rather than through outside forums.

Infrastructure: Library and infrastructure for our course were adequate. The library has a good collection of books and reference material. The canteen could be improved, but there were reasonable food options just outside college. The field is great to play football or cricket.

Faculty: Faculty members of our department were top-notch. The syllabus designed by the University of Calcutta is excellent and provides students with a good working knowledge of the subject of economics. The syllabus makes students ready to face the corporate world.

Other: The college conducts a fest, and every year students wait for fresher's welcome.

I am happy that I chose HCC. It's worth the money and is a good place to be at.

Placements: I have seen the placements of our seniors and have also asked them about it. They got placed in Indigo, ICICI Bank, and other bank depending on their course and how they performed in the interview. They are selected depending on their results at Calcutta University. Only 10% of the batch got selected in placements.

Infrastructure: The college provides many facilities like canteen, Wi-Fi, etc. There are two libraries; seminar and central library which provide the maximum number of books students require. There are a basketball court and students' common room on the campus. Classrooms are huge with boards and smart classes. There are no hostels inside the college. Canteen is the most visited place in our college. They provide varieties of food at low prices and maintain proper hygiene. I love the food provided in the canteen.

Faculty: Teachers are to be appreciable as they are really good at their work. They know how to handle the class. All of them are highly knowledgeable. We are very connected to them in every way possible. Since I am from economics honours, I don't know about faculty members of other courses.

Other: There are a bunch of events that keep taking place in our college throughout the year like freshers', fest, annual sports day, farewell, excursion, picnic, etc. Each year, the girl students are provided with scholarships, and the rest of the students whose family annual income is low can also apply for scholarships. These students get books and concession in fees.

Good enough after the 90 percent cut-off colleges

Placements: I wasn't placed from the college. It does not provide placements for BSc economics hons., at least it did not till 2014. The placement for BCom is good enough with companies like Wipro and TCS coming. The packages are quite low amounting to around 2 to 2.5 lakhs per annum. The jobs are all BPO jobs.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is same as any old colleges under CU. Only a British era building for a campus with no grounds or fields. Only a basketball court for recreation and big common rooms with all indoor sports facilities. It is a Wi-Fi enabled campus now. The canteen serves good enough food.

Faculty: The faculty team is good enough with all professors having PhD degrees from very reputed colleges. They are quite helpful and the student-faculty ratio is extremely good due to very low seats for eco honours as it is. The course curriculum is up to date as per the university norms.

Despite being in the centre of the town, the college is very peaceful and meets the needs of students. The teachers also possess high standards as they are very well aware of the subject they teach. The ambience of the college is awesome and refreshing, thereby attracting a decent crowd of Kolkata.
