The selection process for B.Tech programs can vary among different colleges and universities with some elements like Educational Qualification, Entrance Examination, Merit list, Interviews, Reservation Quotas etc.
Normally, we can get admission in private B.Tech colleges after passing class 12th but for getting admission in good/reputed University or colleges we have to give an exam called JEE Mains (Joint Entance Exam). According to the marks scored in this exam, we get placement in B.Tech colleges.
It is common for universities to set a minimum eligibility criteria, often ranging from 50% to 75% in the aggregate of the relevant subjects. But the minimum percentage required in the 12th class can vary from institution to intuition.

Candidates who want to take admission in HIMT College (Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training) need to appear for the IMU-CET entrance exam which is conducted at the university level. To get admission into the BTech course at HIMT Chennai, IMUCET scores are compulsory.
