HIMT Chennai BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025
HIMT Chennai BTech course is offered with the affiliation of the Indian Maritime University. The course is provided for the duration of four years, divided into eight semesters, and offered in full-time mode. BTech at HIMT is offered in only one specialisation, i.e., Marine Engineering. - Candidates must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with an aggregate of 60%, and a minimum of 50% marks in English in Class 10 & 12 (5% relaxation is given to SC/ ST/ candidates/ candidates who are native to the Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar islands) + IMUCET 2025 rank is mandatory.
- Marital status should be unmarried.
- Age Limit: For males – General: 25 years, OBC (NCL): 28 years, SC/ST: 30 years; For females – General: 27 years, OBC (NCL): 30 years, SC/ST: 32 years (from the commencement of the academic session).
- Medical & Vision Requirements: Candidates must be medically fit as per the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules. Distance vision (unaided) must be 6/6. Additionally, the applicant must produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by a D.G. Shipping-approved doctor.
- It is strongly recommended that candidates seeking admission to BTech in Marine Engineering must have a passport.
The college also offers BTech in Marine Engineering Lateral Entry for three years. To get admission into this course, candidates must have completed the first year in either Mechanical or Electrical engineering/ diploma in the relevant stream with a minimum of 55% to 60% aggregate + IMU CET rank. The other eligibility requirements are almost similar.
