MBA is the flagship programme offered by IIMA. MBA students are taught to make the right decisions in the face of difficult business challenges. Candidates seeking admission to the two-year PGP of IIM Ahmedabad must appear in the Common Admission Test (CAT). CAT 2025 (considered for admission to the 2026-28 batch) will take place in November 2025. - Before the establishment of IIM Ahmedabad, India was in dire need of an autonomous management institute to educate fresh graduates.
- In 1961, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta were introduced and put in collaboration with their foreign partners, HBS and MIT.
- IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta began with executive development programmes and a flagship course.
- In 1964, a 2-year PG degree in Business Administration came into existence as a flagship program.
- In 1962, along with the visit to India, Louis Kahn began his project IIMA and the first thing on campus that came into existence was the faculty house and after that the dormitories/student hostels.
- Interestingly, the batch of 1964-65 was the first batch of students. Before shifting to the main campus in 1966, students took classes in the room at ATIRA. The same batch stayed in the apartment of the Gujarat Housing Board.

Yes, CAT 2023 dates for admission to IIM Ahmedabad are out. To apply for the CAT exam, candidates are required to create an account, fill the CAT registration form and pay the exam application fee. The 2023 CAT form have to be submitted by a certain deadline after which no application will be accepted. For 2023 CAT exam, CAT registration will go on between Aug 2 and Sep 20. The exam will be conducted on November 26, 2023. Students are required to appear for the CAT 2023 exam in Computer Based Testing mode at allotted test centres. CAT exam 2023 for IIM Ahmedabad admission will be held in three slots. These are as follows:
- Morning slot: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
- Afternoon slot: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM
- Evening slot: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Candidates who are willing to get into IIM Ahmedabad must mention the college name and course preference in their CAT application form to get a call (provided the student gets a valid score in the exam).
