IIM Bangalore Admissions 2027: Fee, Cutoff, Selection Criteria, Eligibility

No, students can't get direct admission in IIM Bangalore. The institute accepts students strictly through entrance basis. Students have to clear the selection rounds to get admission in the institute. 

 Yes, it is difficult to get admission in IIM Bangalore. With it being one of the top IIMs, the admission chances are very slim. Only those who clear the high cutoff can get a seat in flagship PGP programme. Students have to clear not only the cutoff, but also the selection rounds to get admission. But with the right planning and practice, students can join the institute.

No matter how much a student secures in Class 12, IIM Bangalore, while shortlisting candidates for MBA follows a normalization process and gives weightage to all exam scores, i.e., Class 10, Class 12 or graduation. The process of normalisation is explained below:

1. For IIM Bangalore PGP admission, a shortlist will be prepared comprising the names of candidates who have secured a pre-determined minimum score on all sections of CAT.
2. All the subsequent processing, standardization and selection are limited to candidates selected to the first short list alone. Therefore, the CAT score alone is used as the basis for arriving at the first short list
3. For all candidates in the first shortlist, a candidate’s percentage scores in the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams are adjusted by dividing each such score by the 90th percentile score obtained in that board. For this purpose, the database of Class 10 and Class 12 scores of all CAT applicants of the past two years is used for identifying the 90th percentile score for each Class 10 and Class 12 scores board.
   
   

Students may get admission in IIM Bangalore with 95 percentile in CAT. But this is not enough to get a seat. The admission chances also depend on student's overall profile. This includes academic scores + performance in the selection rounds. Students can check the cutoff trends to know better.

 The PGPEM is a two-year weekend MBA course for working professionals. It is designed for working mid-level and senior executives with a minimum of four years of work experience after graduationThe programme is designed in a way that the classes are scheduled on weekends over two years, enabling working professionals to attend, without taking a break in their careers. Graduates with a minimum of 50% aggregate and at least four years of work experience after graduation are eligible to apply for the same.

IIM Bangalore offers several PG and doctoral-level programmes in the field of Management, such as PGP, PGP-BA, E-PGP, PGPEM, PGPPM and PhD to the students. Candidates seeking admission to IIM Bangalore MBA course must appear for CAT. It is mandatory for candidates to meet the sectional and overall CAT cutoff to be eligible for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for final admission to IIM Bangalore. For IIM Bangalore MBA admission, students need to meet both the overall CAT cut off percentile and the sectional cut offs. Candidates seeking admission to IIM Bangalore must score above the 90 percentile in CAT exam. IIM Bangalore does not release CAT cutoffs in the public domain and are exclusively accessible only via account login to candidates who have appeared for the exam. Therefore, the students must aim to score above 90 percentile.

Students have to meet the IIMB course eligibility to get admission. The eligibility requirements may change depending on the programme and specialisation. The common eligibility is as below:

Candidates selected for MBA course based on their Class 10, Class 12, CAT qualifying and CAT final cutoff are called for further selection rounds, such as the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. A commutative score is then calculated based on the performance of the candidates in all the aforementioned parameters. Similarly for other courses, applicants who meet the set eligibility need to go through the institute-specific selection process and get shortlisted. After completion of the selection rounds, a category-wise merit list is released based on the Final Composite Score. The provisional admission offers are made accordingly, adhering to the reservation norms.
