IIT Goa admission is a multi-step process that students need to follow to get into the institute. IIT Goa Seats 2026
IIT Goa seat intake differs with the specialisations. Aspirants are offered seats in BTech courses based on JEE Advanced score. The seats in BTech programme is offered through JoSAA Counselling. As per the Government of India rules, candidates belonging to certain categories are offered seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. Aspirants should have relevant documents to prove their claim. Below is category-wise seat reservation for BTech programme:

Admission 2026 at IIT Goa is completely entrance-based. Students are selected on the basis of different national-level entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, UGC NET, etc. JEE Advanced syllabus must be checked before starting the preparation for the exam. GATE Results must be analysed for predicting the chances of admission.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Goa) offers BTech, MTech and PhD degrees in the field of Engineering and Technology admission to these courses is completely an online process. While the institute accepts JEE Advanced scores for admission to its flagship BTech programme, aspirants however, are also required to qualify JEE Main exam before appearing for JEE Advanced. Candidates seeking IIT Goa MTech admission must have a valid score in GATE while Ph.D. admission is based on a written exam and interview.
After applying for JEE Main or GATE for admission to BTech or MTech, respectively, candidates are shortlisted for BTech based on JEE Main, JEE Advanced and for MTech based on GATE scores. Then, candidates are allotted seats in JoSAA Counselling for BTech. Admission to M.Tech is through GATE followed by COAP Counselling. The cutoff for BTech and MTech courses is released by the respective counselling bodies. For PhD, the institute releases a merit list announcing the names of the shortlisted candidates. As per the merit list, candidates are called for counselling/ seat allotment. Shortlisted candidates must pay the fee to confirm their admission.

In addition to the course fee, candidates are also required to pay the application fee while JEE registration. The same for BTech at IIT Goa through JEE Main official website is INR 1,000 for boys and for girls (of General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC (NCL categories), it is INR 800.
IIT Goa MTech Admission 2026
IIT Goa gives a two-year MTech programme spread across four semesters. The institute offers MTech in Computer Science, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Admission to MTech programme depends on GATE scores followed by COAP Counselling. To be eligible for admission, candidates need to complete BE/ BTech/ MSc(Engg.)/ MCA in the relevant stream with a minimum of 60% aggregate score (55% for SC/ST/PwD).

IIT Goa PhD Admission 2026
IIT Goa PhD admissions are given on the basis of the merit secured in the entrance exam. The accepted exams include GATE, UGC NET, CSIR NET, etc. PhD at IIT Goa is given across many specialisations such as Computer Science, Mechanical, Mathematics, Electrical, and others. To be eligible to apply for IIT Goa PhD admission, students must have a post graduation degree in engineering or technology with a minimum of 60% or 6 CPI. Candidates applying for PhD course at IIT Goa have to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 200. There is a relaxation in the application fee for SC/ ST/ PwD/ EWS/ female candidates. The fee for such aspirants is INR 200. Aspirants need to pay the application fee via any of the online payment modes.
IIT Goa applications usually open in second week of June every year. The applications closes by the end of June. The institute also conducts a written test followed by interview to shortlist aspirants for the PhD programme. Aspirants with a valid score in GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, etc. can also apply for the PhD course.
Aspirants who have completed a master's degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology or equivalent with at least 60% aggregate or CPI 6/ 10 or equivalent (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 for SC/ ST) with a minimum of two-years of work experience at the time of application are eligible to apply for part-time PhD programme.
Candidates who have completed bachelor's degree or master's degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology at least 60% aggregate or CPI 6/ 10 or equivalent (55% aggregate or CPI 5.5/10 for SC/ ST) can also apply. Aspirants need to have a four-year of experience after bachelor's degree and one-year experience after master's degree.
IIT Goa CSE cutoff 2026 for the EWS AI category was 886 in the first round. Hence, candidates who want admission at this institution in the first round need to attain a rank of at least 886 or below. The lower the rank, the better.

IIT Goa JEE Advanced cutoff 2024 has been released across multiple specialisations. Based on the Round 1 seat allotment, the BTech cutoff scores ranged between 4654 and, 10653 for the General AII India category students. Among all the BTech specialisations, BTech in CSE is the most competitive specialisation. The Last Round for Computer Science and Engineering is 4654 for the General AI category.
Furthermore, according to IIT Goa OBC AI category cutoff 2024, the Last Round closing rank for Computer Science and Engineering is 1987.
IIT Goa offers a total of four BTech programmes as per the JoSAA website. The duration of these course is four year and the mode of study is full-time. Selection is done as per the JEE Main + JEE Advanced scores followed by JoSAA counselling. The available BTech specialisations at IIT Goa are:

Your Class 12 marks does not matter for admission at IIT Goa for the MSc courses. For admission at this IIT for the MSc programme, you would need to first have a Bachelors degree with at least 55% marks for the General and OBC categories (50% marks for the SC, ST and PWD categories).
