IIT Madras BS Degree in Data Science and Applications review
Learning Experience: Course content is good and industrial relevant. The website is also user friendly but the lectures are not that good. Exams are quite good and difficult. Overall, this degree is worth the investment of time and money.
Placements: Placements are quite good. Only a few get the opportunity to complete this degree and get placed. Placements are really good as per the online nature of this course. The average package is around 10-12 LPA and the highest is above 40 LPA, as listed (not confirmed).
Faculty: Live sessions on YouTube are quite good and knowledgeable. Lectures uploaded on the portal are quite difficult to understand. Assignments are also good in terms of difficulty level. The course structure is rigorous. The foundation level is not that hard to crack but the difficulty level increases as we move from Foundation to Diploma, then BSc and finally BS.
Course Support: The support experience is good. Doubts can be asked through dedicated emails and discourse ID. Multiple student groups are also created on WhatsApp to interact with other learners.

BS in Data Science and Applications (online) - Batch of 2028

An instance of online learning: My experience of pursuing an online degree at IIT Madras.
Learning Experience: The course content is rigorous. You have to do assignments every week which sometimes becomes challenging if you are a working professional or doing dual degree. The content they provide through their platform is per the industry standard. They do not compromise with their institute's legacy. This programme build skills that you need today and the industries ask for. The only challenge I have experienced in this programme is for standalone students as they do not get the physical environment of the campus so it impacts their overall growth in terms of non-academic skills.
Placements: They have a dedicated cell for placements and internships. After you complete your one diploma, you become eligible for internship guidance. Placements as expected are for those who complete their degree. Due to the curriculum they have designed and the assessment process, many students are not able to proceed than foundation level so they do not get these internships and obviously no placements.
Faculty: Every week they release lectures which are pre-recorded. We have to watch lectures and then do the activities which every lecture is followed by. One can take at max 4 subjects in each term. It is expected to give around 1.5 hours to each subject daily so that you can complete the weekly lectures and assignments. In a term, 3 examinations are held which are known as quizzes. You have to score more than 40 % in these quizzes to pass the course. The faculty that teaches us is from the premier institutes such as the IITs themselves.
Course Support: There are two ways to get clarification on any issue. One is to write an email to their support team and they reply within time. I have myself got into some troubles and I chose this way to get the solutions on what I should do now. The other way they provide is to raise a ticket about your problem and that is solved as per the system. We have to hardly choose the other way.

M.Tech. in Ocean Structures - Batch of 2023

Choosing Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras.
Placements: The placement was 100 %, the average placement package is 8 LPA, and the highest is 15 LPA. The college environment is just great, and each is nearby. Every big company comes for recruitment, like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, but the placement for these companies is a bit competitive. For ocean engineering, the placements are very good. The students have options for both core and non-core jobs.
Infrastructure: The hostels are good, some are old, and some are new. Single room from the second year onwards. In the old hostel, the money problem is there. But the grounds have everything like cricket, volleyball, and badminton. For food, we have 3 meals. Himalaya, Nilgiri, and Vindhyachal. The food is okay in all the mess, not good, not bad.
Faculty: The curriculum for Ocean structure is actually very good, and at the end, the students will have good knowledge of almost every domain related to ocean engineering, ships, and offshore structure. This field is niche and has more demand and less supply, so the job opportunities will be really good.

Review of IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placement was good as every year, companies come to this college for placement, where usually B.Tech and M.Tech students are placed. Other companies come here for M.Sc. students, but it is entirely up to the student whether or not they want to go. A lot of multinational companies are coming for placements here. Most of them are corporate. We have a lot of internship programs, but I didn't participate in any internships yet, so I don't have any experiences in internships. The maximum package offered was 25 LPA, while the average package was 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The course curriculum is good, covering the topmost topics and also ensuring a basic understanding that goes on to high diversity in subjects, as they change every semester. Teachers are excellent in their work. They guide us, and we get the best knowledge with practical knowledge in practical classes every week. Hostel facilities are available, and the accommodations are very good, with 24 hours of water supply. The rooms are 2 sharing, and the charges are reasonable. The mess food is hygienic and good as well, offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Faculty: All the staff members of the Physics department are fully experienced in teaching and possess in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge. They teach using the best methods. The exam structure is semester-wise. First, we have unit tests organized by the respected department to determine internal marks, followed by assignment marking. It is followed by the practical exams that the respective departments require to assess our practical knowledge. In the end, a theory exam is conducted to assess our theoretical knowledge based on what we have studied throughout the semester (duration - 6 months).

IIT Madras College review.
Placements: Most people in applied Physics didn't really look for jobs because they wanted to do research. Only about 10% to 20% take jobs, usually teaching at places like Akash or FIITJEE for 7-11 LPA. But in other departments, students got great jobs at government companies like Coal India with really good salaries.
Infrastructure: All our classrooms were digital now, which I think was pretty cool. We had labs for everything, like computers and mechanical stuff. There's Wi-Fi in every room, too. The main library was massive and had all the books you'd need. The hostel rooms were decent and come with a bed and a desk. The mess food was actually good, and there's even a small clinic on campus if you feel sick.
Faculty: The faculty members had a lot of experience and the right degrees for the job. They mostly focused on helping us get ready for big interviews and finding a place to work. A lot of what we learn was about finance, specifically stuff like auditing and accounts. Overall, the staff was really smart, and they usually helped students get good results.

Review of facilities and life at IIT Madras.
Placements: My batch has 154 students, which makes it the second-largest branch on the campus. The highest package offered is 1.31 crores per annum. The top recruiting companies for our course are Google, Microsoft, etc. A lot of other renowned companies around the world also visit the college. The top roles offered are software development engineer, validation engineer, IC design, etc.
Infrastructure: The department building is very spacious with a lot of classrooms and labs. The building is a bit old, so the renovation is being made now. The hostel infrastructure is nice, but there is a bit of a problem with monkeys in one or two of them. The mess food is of nice quality. Food courts are available throughout the day.
Faculty: Faculty members are the best here. Most of them are a part of research teams or carry on their own research. The course curriculum is mostly relevant to what we see in the industries now. Semester exams are manageable. They are neither hard nor easy.

hi,

With an 82.121 percentile in JEE Main, getting admission into National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli is highly unlikely through general category quotas, as its cutoffs are usually much higher (often above 98–99 percentile). Even with home state or reserved categories, chances remain ver

hi,

No—if you scored 44 when the cutoff is 45 in JEE Main, you would not qualify for JEE Advanced. Without qualifying JEE Advanced, admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras is not possible, since IITs admit students only through that route.

However, you still have good alternatives. Lovely P

Yes, you may be eligible for B.Tech Biotechnology, but it depends on the admission policy of the university.

Here's how your profile looks:

hi,

With a 98.5 percentile in JEE Main, you have a strong chance of getting into good NITs, but admission to National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli depends on your category, home state quota, branch preference, and yearly cutoff trends. For highly competitive branches like CSE at NIT Trichy
