B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028
4.4

Review of facilities and life at IIT Madras.
Placements: My batch has 154 students, which makes it the second-largest branch on the campus. The highest package offered is 1.31 crores per annum. The top recruiting companies for our course are Google, Microsoft, etc. A lot of other renowned companies around the world also visit the college. The top roles offered are software development engineer, validation engineer, IC design, etc.
Infrastructure: The department building is very spacious with a lot of classrooms and labs. The building is a bit old, so the renovation is being made now. The hostel infrastructure is nice, but there is a bit of a problem with monkeys in one or two of them. The mess food is of nice quality. Food courts are available throughout the day.
Faculty: Faculty members are the best here. Most of them are a part of research teams or carry on their own research. The course curriculum is mostly relevant to what we see in the industries now. Semester exams are manageable. They are neither hard nor easy.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2027

Good campus, good placement, good faculty, but hostel alone needs improvement.
Placements: Placements are good and decent, we will receive top recruits. Core options are more. Package offered is decent with respect to our CGP it lies. Getting an internship is a difficult part but getting placed is easy. Nearly 80% of students get placed in a year. But you should maintain decent grades and skills.
Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure needs to be improved. We will receive free Wi-Fi throughout. Library and many places are provided for students to study. We have wide options for mess and menu. Canteens are available at low cost without compromising the food quality. Labs are awesome.
Faculty: Faculty, exams, and curriculum are good. Faculty members are friendly. Teachers are highly qualified. Teachers have a wide knowledge. They will mentor us in a good way. Difficulty level of the questions is a little higher but all are curriculum-related. The pass percentage is quite high.
Other: You will experience an awesome campus life, and it is pleasant.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering + M.Tech. in Applied Mechanics - Batch of 2024
3.8
3Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
Great campus life with good placements and strong academic support.
Placements: Around 70% of students got placed. The highest package was 18 LPA, the lowest 5 LPA, average salary was 9 LPA. Top companies like L&T, ISRO, and DRDO. 60% of students got internships in same companies. Roles offered were design engineer, research associate, and tech consultant. It's quite good here.
Infrastructure: Department had good labs, classrooms with AC and projector, and Wi-Fi all around. Library was big with many books. Hostel rooms were fine, and shared type. Mess food was okay, sometimes good, sometimes not. Medical help was available 24X7. Many sports ground and gym were also there. It's quite good.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful and well-qualified. Most of them were Ph.D. holders. Teaching quality was good. Course was updated and useful for the industry. Exams were tough, and need to study well. Around 85-90% of students pass. Some subjects were really challenging. It's nice here.
Other: It offered applied mechanics course at IIT Madras. I chose this course because I liked mechanics and research. Best thing was the exposure and advanced labs. Course should include more industry projects. Campus life was great. Crowd was smart. Fests like Saarang and Shaastra were awesome. It had good Wi-Fi and greenery all around. Buses and auto facilities were available outside. Scholarships were also provided. Lots of clubs and activities were there for all interests.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2027

The best campus in India, and very good.
Placements: Around 80% of people go for higher studies in India and abroad. The highest package offer is 42LPA, and the lowest is around 6 to 7LPA. Top recruiters included TCS, Wipro, L&T, and Accenture. 60% of people got internships in many companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities in the department and library include Wi-Fi. Everything is good and well. The hostel is maintained well and nicely, with a mess, food, good infrastructure, AC classrooms, and facilitated labs. Medical facilities and sports facilities are also good.
Faculty: Best faculty well connected to the students. Everyone is well qualified and good in some semesters. Due to the workload, we get less time to prepare for this semester. Basically, a student is a mistake, remaining all good. All teachers have a Foreign degree.
Other: Excellent events.

M.A. in Economics - Batch of 2025
5
5Placements5Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Overall best college for M.A. In Economics Course.
Placements: Placements are excellent for our department. Students of finance are assigned to companies related to finance. The typical salary varies between approximately 15-25 LPA. PSUs visit our college for hiring purposes as well. The top packages reach as much as 3 LPA. Approximately 71-76% of students secure placements annually. 59% of learners obtained internships.
Infrastructure: The college is located in the northeast, and connectivity to the rest of India is limited. Thus, there were few female students on campus. Hotels were good. Each student is given an individual furnished room. Each hotel has a mess area, restaurant, and TV room. The food is awesome. It will take some time to adjust the menu for other public school students.
Faculty: Teachers in my department are good. They help others. Most of them give good grades compared to teachers in other departments. Many of us from our branch pursue activities such as software or non-teaching activities. Having this branch gives them enough time to prepare, as the classes are not so busy. Semester exams are easy. Almost everyone passes, but there are exceptions everywhere.

B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering - Batch of 2027

Absolutely beautiful campus with wildlife.
Placements: Internship is mostly based on software companies; not many core companies come even for core courses. Applying for out-of-campus placements is recommended. Better to have other options in hand. Roles in software companies would generally be developers. And engineering roles are fewer.
Infrastructure: Courses in my branch are difficult; others are pretty okay. Infrastructure depends on the branch you are in. Aerospace has a very mediocre infrastructure. Coming to the hostel, it is okay. I can't describe it as good exactly. Food is edible, extra in the mess would be good, food courts have good food. Medical facilities are good, and they have good sports facilities.
Faculty: Teachers mostly say you are independent; they don't force you to study, you have to study on your own; they will be there to explain the contents, that's all. Sometimes, the explanations aren't so well-structured either. Your grades are completely based on how you study and spend time on the subject (and also on the mood of the paper corrector). The courses are structured well; they give you good insights. The difficulty of the course is pretty high, as well as the exams. The pass percentage is pretty decent.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to be an astronaut since my childhood, but coming here, I realized that what I want and what the course is about are completely different. I highly recommend people look deeply into what they're getting into so that they won't regret it later. But the coursework is pretty engaging; if you like Physics and Maths, you'd love the content.

If you belong to the General AI category, the highest (most competitive) last round cutoff was 155 for admission to the M.Sc. in Physics course. The lower the cutoff rank, the more competitive the course is for admission, and vice versa.
