B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2026

Life at IITM was lit from 2022 - 2026.
Placements: From my seniors batch, about 70% of students got placed. Rest of them went through higher studies. The highest package is 2 crore for Quant Firms. The lowest is 6 LPA as our college placement cell doesn't allow companies offering less than 6 LPA. Median would be 18 LPA - 20 LPA. Top roles offered in software, finance, consulting, FMCG management, and product management.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in every hostel. Labs are up to date in equipments and technology. Classrooms are okay, some are without ACs so it gets hot. Mess food is okay in quality. Sports facilities are abundant, and you can play your favourite sport. There is a hospital on campus which is sufficient for mild diseases.
Faculty: All teachers have PhDs and are respected in their fields. My course is very relevant to chemical engineering industry. You can also take up research projects with the professor to learn more. Semester exams are okay in difficulty, not too hard or easy either.
Other: Chemical engineering is a literally course that allows you to explore beyond academics, especially extracurriculars. Fests are lit, of course. Both the technical and cultural fests are attended by thousands, and other college students attend too.

B.Tech. + M.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering - Batch of 2029
4.8

Very beautiful and calm, has very good faculty, and has all you need,
Placements: Most of the people get placed, but the number of people getting placed through core jobs is very low, people lose interest over time and choose non-core jobs, and many do get internships in pretty decent companies, the average was around 17-18 Lacs.
Infrastructure: Facilities are top-notch. The hostels could be improved but value for money, the facilities of all the grounds are good and well maintained, has a lot apart from academics, the library is big and has a lot of things, Wi-Fi has some problems now and then but in general it is good enough, quality of food depends on the mess we choose.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are great, highly qualified, and a good place to learn, mostly friendly but few are too strict, the curriculum of the course is good but as always this could be improved, sem exams are tough and competitive, most of the paper has only problems, mostly no descriptive questions.
Other: Campus life would be great, clubs would help you find your interest, and the campus is undoubtedly beautiful. Fests and events are more than enough that you can't attend all.

B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering - Batch of 2027

I'm dissatisfied with the aerospace, but it has good campus life, challenges, and lessons for life.
Placements: According to the survey conducted, placements for graduates of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras are average, with the salary package offered was 18 LPA. However, based on my observation and experience as a student here, there were zero core placements for Aerospace graduates last year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our department is horrible with some ceilings falling off. The freshers' hostel is no less than a 5-star hotel, with all the facilities in it. Mess food is also nice, offering a wide variety of cuisines, with separate messes for North and South Indian menus. Wi-Fi is strong, and the libraries are very good, providing a great study environment.
Faculty: Some faculty members are good, while others are not as effective. Course curriculum is well-organized and student-friendly, with manageable pressure and minimal uneasiness. Faculty can be inconsistent, sometimes, they are good, and at other times, it may be difficult to keep up with them. Difficulty level increases with each semester, making it more challenging.

BS Degree : Value for money , Pros and Cons
Learning Experience: The course content are provided by NPTEL. The teachers are IITian, very well qualified. The challenges which comes to the way is that, as it is an online degree. It sometimes get boring, so you have to take care of it.
Placements: You should not depend wholely on the campus placement. You need to search other places as well. Because as it is a new degree, there are fewer companies visiting. But I won't deny, students are getting placed from this degree in a very large amount.
Faculty: Faculty is good there. English is quite boring, but other subjects are interesting and the lectures are interesting too. The program is very structured with weekly assignments and quizzes.
Course Support: The support team is very cooperative. We have a whole department for support. The email and contact be it WhatsApp or text messaging system is available 24/7.

I would like to summarise saying everything is valuable. It's really good.
Learning Experience: The course is really valuable for our career. Lectures are well described. They are really good and well designed.
Placements: I can't say it's the best as we lack some practical exposure, but I'm pretty sure in future it will shine.
Faculty: Quality of lectures is really good. Faculty is supportive. Assignments and proper exams are there.
Course Support: Lectures are provided, live sessions and open sessions are held. We get instant help.

IIT Madras is the best institute for researchers.
Placements: Very few people are not placed. Most of them get placed. There is a large alumni network at this institution. This year the highest salary package offered is 4.5 crore by institution. If students are well prepared for interviews definitely they get placed in a company with good packages.
Infrastructure: Hostels have LAN facilities but do not institute Wi-Fi. Everywhere except hostels have institute Wi-Fi. Best quality of food is provided by messes. There is one stadium named Watsa for those who are interested in sports. Some indoor games are available to students in hostels.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, knowledgeable, and qualified. IIT Madras curriculum is best. It makes students ready for industry. Semester exams are very easy if we just understand and analyse courses of that particular semester. There are some pass or fail courses.
Other: Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras has both electrical and electronic communications.
