The IIT Madras campus is home to 300 species of trees and plants, a wide variety of native wild species, which are unique to the tropical, dry evergreen vegetation, including the most elegant antelopes in the world - the Blackbuck and 100 species of birds seen at different times of the year.

IIT Madras Hostel
IIT Madras has a total of 22 hostels built for its students pursuing Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. Students admitted to the first year of the Undergraduate course at IIT Madras are allotted a shared accommodation. Further in the subsequent years, the students are allotted single, double, or triple sharing rooms, depending on their hostels. Out of the 22 hostels, 16 are for males and 6 are for females. IIT Madras Hostel Life
The hostel at IIT Madras has everything a student would require to live comfortably and focus on their studies without any disruptions. Each student gets a cot, a table and chair, an almirah, and all electrical facilities with a LAN port with high-speed internet. Each hostel has a common room consisting of TV, table tennis, pool and foosball tables. For outdoor games, the hostels have a courtyard that serves as a football and cricket ground, and separate basketball and badminton courts are also available.
IIT Madras Library
IIT Madras Central Library is well-equipped with modern facilities. It is a five-storey, fully air-conditioned and wifi enabled facility that contains a myriad of resources, including CD-ROMs, online databases, audio-video cassettes, books, e-journals, patents, e-standards, theses, reports, monographs, full-text and bibliographical databases among others. It has subscriptions to famous research journals, including e-subscriptions to a palette of journals.
The library has different sections- Textbook/Reference, General Stacks, Reading Halls, Journals and Current Periodicals, a Media Research Centre (which regularly screens educational and scientific videos), and a Book Bank, among many others.
IIT Madras students by default become members of the Central Library and can avail access to reference materials and books/journals from other libraries in the city as well.
The Central Library at IIT Madras was awarded the Wiley Library Award 2019 in the 'Digitally Transformed Academic Library (Government)' category.

Infrastructure Reviews
Infrastructure: The college is located in the northeast, and connectivity to the rest of India is limited. Thus, there were few female students on campus. Hotels were good. Each student is given an individual furnished room. Each hotel has a mess area, restaurant, and TV room. The food is awesome. It will take some time to adjust the menu for other public school students.
Infrastructure: Institute Wi-Fi is present in all public places. Labs and classrooms are very well maintained and mostly air-conditioned. Library is open from 8:00 AM to 11:30 PM, and it is air-conditioned too. Hostel facilities are moderate, and we come to the hostel mostly for sleeping. We stay in the library most of the time. The quality of food available is also moderate. The institute hospital is very good, like a multi-specialty hospital. All types of sports are played here like cricket, football, badmint...
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our department is horrible with some ceilings falling off. The freshers' hostel is no less than a 5-star hotel, with all the facilities in it. Mess food is also nice, offering a wide variety of cuisines, with separate messes for North and South Indian menus. Wi-Fi is strong, and the libraries are very good, providing a great study environment.
Infrastructure: All the infrastructure in our department is top-notch, with table Wi-Fi connections, AC classrooms, and lab facilities for various subjects. All the students will be provided with hostels at the time of admission. There are single, double, triple, and quadruple sharing rooms. In each room, a cot, a cupboard, a study table with a chair, a socket, and LAN facilities will be provided. Hostels also have a basketball court, lawns, and various games, including board games. Infrastructure: Infrastructure of hostel is too good and neat and clean. There will be a single room also available in the hostel. Classroom is near and good. Labs with all facilities. Library has been quiet and peaceful. Canteen facilities are super on campus and worth money.
Infrastructure: Hostels have LAN facilities but do not institute Wi-Fi. Everywhere except hostels have institute Wi-Fi. Best quality of food is provided by messes. There is one stadium named Watsa for those who are interested in sports. Some indoor games are available to students in hostels.
Infrastructure: IIT Madras has good classrooms, fast Wi-Fi, nice labs, and a big library. Hostels are clean with 24-hour water, power, and internet. Mess food is clean and okay, with different food choices. Canteens have many tasty options. There is a free campus hospital and ambulance. Sports grounds, gym, and games are also available for students.
Infrastructure: Department had good labs, classrooms with AC and projector, and Wi-Fi all around. Library was big with many books. Hostel rooms were fine, and shared type. Mess food was okay, sometimes good, sometimes not. Medical help was available 24X7. Many sports ground and gym were also there. It's quite good.
Infrastructure: Best infrastructure I have ever seen in my whole life. Every type of facility is available to students. IITM will give you everything, you just have to study and enjoy on campus. First time you enter the campus, you will find yourself in jungle.
Infrastructure: Courses in my branch are difficult; others are pretty okay. Infrastructure depends on the branch you are in. Aerospace has a very mediocre infrastructure. Coming to the hostel, it is okay. I can't describe it as good exactly. Food is edible, extra in the mess would be good, food courts have good food. Medical facilities are good, and they have good sports facilities.
Infrastructure: In our college, classrooms were very primitive but labs had all the latest equipment for students from IIT to do their research. The quality of mess food varies greatly depending on where you come from. North Indians find it difficult to change their diet. Hostel furniture was quite outdated. Washing machines were exceptional, and western toilets were never expected.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in every hostel. Labs are up to date in equipments and technology. Classrooms are okay, some are without ACs so it gets hot. Mess food is okay in quality. Sports facilities are abundant, and you can play your favourite sport. There is a hospital on campus which is sufficient for mild diseases.
Learning Experience: IIT Madras BS degree in data science and application is an online program that you can study from any location (also from abroad). All course is published prerecorded on the website of IIT Madras. There is a live doubt-solving lecture on Google Meet or Zoom. It is an online program so there is no need to go, it has campus in Madras but the exams are conducted offline. There are various centers for the exam also in other countries. The hostels could be improved but value for money, the facilities of all the grounds are good and well maintained, has a lot apart from academics, the library is big and has a lot of things, Wi-Fi has some problems now and then but in general it is good enough, quality of food depends on the mess we choose.
