IIIT Kottayam Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Application

IIIT Kottayam does not offer direct admission. Candidates need to pass an entrance exam and participate in selection rounds for admission. The selection for BTech is based on JEE Main followed by JoSAA/ CSAB Counsellig. Admission to MTech and PhD courses is based on written tests conducted by the institute. 

Yes, the candidate who secures 97% in Class 12 final examination is eligible for BTech at IIIT Kottayam. Candidates having their JEE-Main rank above the closing rank specified in the merit list released by the IIIT Kottayam can apply for the counselling process through JoSAA. Aspirants must complete Class 12 in Science with Mathematics/ Diploma or equivalent educational qualification to apply for Integrated M.Tech for Working Professionals programme. Aspirants must be employed in Industry/ R & D/ Academia at the time of applying.

Aspirants must pass BTech./BE/AMIE degree in any discipline or MCA or MSc/MS degree in CS/IT/Mathematics/ Physics/Statistics with a minimum of 60% aggregate to apply for M.Tech for Working Professionals programme at IIIT Kottayam. Candidates should also be currently employed. The institute only considers the employment acquired after the qualifying degree is awarded.

IIIT Allahabad accpets JEE Main score for admission to the BTech courses. As per the IIIT Allahabad cutoff 2023, the Last Round closing rank for BTech ranged between 5924 and 9558, among which Information Technology was the most competitive specialisation. The Round 1 closing rank for BTech ranged between 4817 and 8428 for BTech. 

So, considering the previous year Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks, candidates seeking admission to IIIT Allahabad must secure a rank over and above 4800 and 9600 for the General ALL India category candidates.

Given below are the eligibility and selection criteria for admission to the M.Tech programme at the IIIT Kottayam:

• B.Tech./BE/AMIE degree in any discipline or MCA or MSc/MS degree in CS/IT/Mathematics/ Physics/Statistics with a minimum of 60% aggregate
• The candidate should be currently employed. Only the employment acquired after the award of the qualifying degree will be considered.
• Candidates are required to fill out the application fee through IIIT Kottayam official website by paying the registration fee. Candidates based on their marks in the qualifying examination will have to take the written test and interview conducted by the IIIT Kottayam.

IIIT Kottayam's admission process for all courses is completely online. Candidates willing to take admission to any particular programme at IIIT Kottayam must fill out the application form through the following websites:

• BTech aspirants must fill out the JEE-Main application form through the National Testing Agency (NTA) official website (nta.ac.in).

As per the cutoff list released by IIIT Kottayam for admission to its flagship BTech programme the closing ranks for BTech in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) for the year 2020, 2021 & 2022 were 605, 579 & 902, respectively. This clearly shows that the closing rank for the CSE branch at IIIT Kottayam has recorded a significant decline. Also, the closing rank for BTech in Electronics & Commmunication Engineering (ECE) recorded an excessive decrease. In addition to this, the closing rank for Computer Science & Engineering (Cyber Security) branch with a slight decrease have been in the same slab.

JEE Main Round 6, has been released for admission to the BTech courses. As per IIIT Kottayam JEE Main cutoff 2023, the Round 6 closing rank was 30516 for General category candidates in All India quota for Computer Science Engineering. For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 34448 was the closing rank. BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Kottayam offers various scholarships to eligible students as financial assistance. A limited number of scholarships are available for students hence apply as soon as the scholarship application form opens.

IIIT Kottayam provides Teaching Assistantship to eligible full-time PhD scholars. Students get a minimum of INR 25,000 per month subject to fulfillment of criteria and conditions set by the instiute from time to time.

Starting the JEE Main preparation from class 11 or 12 is the best time. As JEE Main syllabus consists of topics from class 11 and 12, students can easily cover all the topics along with school. Students can begin by checking the topics that is covered in both school and JEE Main and give special attention to them. For all three subjects, study NCERT and also take help from reference books. Understand the concepts thoroughly and solve numerical problems. To crack JEE Main along with class 12, students should devote at least 2-3 hours for JEE beside class 12 studies.
