IISER Bhopal Highlights 2025
Established in 2008, IISER Bhopal is a degree-granting autonomous institute that has been awarded the status of ‘Institute of National Importance’ by the Government of India. IISER Bhopal offers courses such as BS, BS-MS (dual degree), integrated PhD (iPhD) and PhD to aspirants. The institute has three Centres of Excellence, which are, Center for Research on Environment and Sustainable Technologies (CREST), Centre for Research in Advanced Technology for Education in Science (CREATES) and Centre for Science and Society (CS2). Apart from these,
IISER Bhopal is a fully residential campus and has six hostels for both, male and female students. The gender ratio at IISER Bhopal is 2:1 (Male: Female). A total of 1,716 students are pursuing education at IISER Bhopal and there are 132 faculty members.

IISER Bhopal offers three admission channels: SCB (state central board), KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana), and IIT JEE Advanced for admission to the BS and BS-MS (Dual Degree) programmes. Based on the category rank list that is acquired from KVPY, a common rank list is generated for candidates who apply through the KVPY channel, giving equal weight to SX, SA, and SB. The JEE (Advanced) category rank list determines the candidates' assignments when they apply through the JEE channel. Yes, IISER Bhopal accepts JEE score for admission. You can get admission in IISER Bhopal through JEE Main rank if you fulfill the eligibility criteria for the JEE advanced channel, which is to secure a JEE Advanced rank within 10,000. You also need to have 10+2 with a Science stream and Maths as one of the subjects. IISER Bhopal offers a BS-MS degree programme for four years. You can also apply for admission through KVPY and SCB channel.

The median package offered during BSc-MSc placements in 2022 increased by more than 18% in comparison to 2021.
Previously, five IISER Bhopal final-year students were chosen by Deloitte at IISER Bhopal placements 2022, according to data made public by IISER Bhopal. Additionally, as part of the IISER Bhopal summer internships 2022, a third-year BS student was chosen for a three-month summer internship at nuture.farm. In addition, four Indian Institute of Science Education & Research Bhopal students were chosen to participate in IISER internships in France in 2022.
The official announcement of the 2023 placement results is still pending. Previously, 13 of the 152 BSc grads were placed in 2022. In 2021, 3 BSc students were successfully placed out of 138 total. Thirteen BSc students were placed during IISER placements in 2022, according to the report. For BSc students, the median package was INR 11.40 LPA.
Since IISER Pune had 13 students selected for placement and IISER Bhopal has only 5 students. Therefore, IISER Pune offers better placements.

Candidates must have passed 12th standard (or equivalent) with past 2 years with atleast 60% marks for general category, and 55% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD.
Candidate must have taken any three of the following subjecs in 11th and 12th standard. i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
Candidates need to take one of three exams, i.e. IAT, JEE Advanced, KYPY.
For students belonging to general category, fees is Rs 85,000 per annum for 5-year BS-MS degree programme. So the fees for 5-year programme is Rs 4,25,00.
For students belonging to OBC/SC/ST category, fees is Rs 12,950 per annum for BS-MS degree programme. So the fees for 5-year programme is Rs 69,550.

Yes, it is possible to get admission to IISER through IISER entrance exam. IISER Entrance exam is conducted by the institute for candidates seeking admission to the BS and Integrated BS specialisations. The cutoff is released category-wise for candidates belonging to the All India quota. For the General AI category candidates, the last round closing rank for all the specialisations are given in the table below:
IISER Bhopal is one of the best options to pursue BSc. It has great faculty that is always there to guide students. Infrasturcture at the college is great, with state of the art laboratories, a library with large collecion of books on different subjects. Students and especially, seniors are really great when it comes to proper guidance. IISER Bhopal has connections to most of the big research firms, helping students to secure good internships and placement.
Earlier there was three chaneels through which candidates can ge admissions to the courses offered at IISER institions, IISc Banglore and IIT Madras. From the academic session 2025, admisisons were made through IAT exam channel only and other two channels were discontinued.
There were three channels for admission:
- IAT Channel a. Candidates seeking admission through this channel must appear for a computer-based IISER Aptitude Test (IAT-2025).
- KVPY Channel The KVPY-SA-2021 students who have received the provisional KVPY fellowship award are eligible to apply for admission. A. Candidates in the extended KVPY merit list are not eligible.
- JEE Channel a. Candidates seeking admission under JEE channel should have qualified in the JEE Advanced in the year 2023, AND should have a rank within 15000 in the common rank list or in the respective category rank lists (GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD). B. Those who qualified JEE Advanced in any year other than 2023 are not eligible. C. Candidates with JEE Advanced preparatory ranks are not eligible. Candidates seeking admission under this channel do not have to appear for IAT-2023.
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal admission to the BS-MS dual degree course is based on the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) entrance exam score. As per the IISER Bhopal cutoff 2024, the last round closing cutoff was 1318 for all the BS-MS specialisations for the General All India category students. Other than that, BS Specialisations such as BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, BS in Chemical Engineering, and BS in Data Sciences have a similar cutoff of 1177 under General AI category. Admission to the MSc programmes at IISER requires a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale. Candidates who have completed their graduation in the previous year or are in their final year can also apply. The criteria for evaluating the marks/grades on the transcript/grade sheet depend on whether absolute or relative grading was used. If only marks or only grades are reported, then percentage or CGPA/CPI, respectively, will be considered. If CGPA/CPI is reported on a scale other than 10, an equivalent CGPA/CPI will be calculated using a formula.
You can enter IISER Bhopal by taking any one of the following exams.
- KVPY. Candidates who have recieved provisional KVPY scholarship are eligible to aplly at IISER Bhopal.
- JEE Advanced. You must rank with in the top 10,000 students in common rank list. For Candidates from OBC/SC/ST/PwD category, their rank from respective category will be used.
- IISER Aptitude Test (also known as IAT). Cutoff for this test changes every year so, it is best to keep yourself updated.

If you are a biology student you must have pcb as your subjects but the B.Tech at IISER bhopal or at any college in India does require maths as a compulsory subject
