The selection criteria vary from one course to another. While some courses like MBBS require valid scores in NEET-UG and other courses like BSc and MSc, the institute conducts its entrance exam. For admission to the flagship MBBS programme, candidates have to appear for the NEET-UG exam. Candidates having valid scores/ rank in NEET-UG can then apply through the JIPMER Puducherry official website followed by the counselling round conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

JIPMER Puducherry offers MBBS course at UG level and MD/MS at PG level. It also offers DM/MCh at super-speciality level. PhD and Fellowship courses are also provided by the Institute. Yes, the student can get into JIPMER with 75% in 10th and 80% in 12th. JIPMER accepts NEET UG scores for MBBS admission, and doesn't consider 10th and 12th scores if the NEET UG is qualified. However, students need to qualify the eligibility criteria for NEET UG, before filling of the NEET UG examination form. The NEET UG eligibility in respect of 10th and 12th marks is different for different categories of candidates. The Minimum aggregate in the qualifying examination (PCB) is 50 percent for the General category, 45 percent for General PWD and 40 percent for SC/ ST/ OBC/ Reserved-PWD. JIPMER MBBS cutoff 2025 was 260 for the students belonging to the General AI quota. Similarly, for the OBC category students, the NEET UG last round closing rank was 748 for admission to the MBBS course. Comparing both categories, the cutoff rank was more competitive for the General category students as compared to the OBC category for MBBS admission.
