Best College for Physics Honours in Calcutta.

Placements: Physics department of the college is best among colleges under Calcutta University. Graduation in Physics is not a technical course, s no placements are organised by the college.After graduation, most students opted for Masters from CU. Some went to places like IIT and Research fields etc.

Infrastructure: Classroom, Lab and Seminars are great. There are all sorts of facilities. Although it was a government college and hence some tools were rusty, but our teachers were there to help. The department used to organise seminars which were super exciting. No hostel facilities are available.

Faculty: Faculty members were of top class in every way. They were very good and helpful in and out of the class. Curriculum and exams were organised by Calcutta University and were tough, but teachers helped us in preparation. Almost everyone passed except those who were irregular in classes.

Other: Students from other departments didn't interact much. Also no college fest or departmental tours during three years of my course were organized. Though our classmates and seniors were fun to be with each other.

This is an average college for physics honors.

Placements: In this college, placements are not good. I am a core physics lover and I want to continue my studies in physics further. Our senior placements are not average as compared to other engineering colleges. Students come here for studying core subjects.

Infrastructure: In this college, the hostels are fine for all boys and girls. It has a separate hostel facility, as it is situated in the center of Kolkata city connection and transport is very easy and affordable. Students have to apply earlier to get good hostel rooms, and culture is fine.

Faculty: The teaching quality is impressive. Even in online classes during covid, teachers did not let students feel that they are at a far distance. Slides information and their teaching style are satisfying for at least as a physics honors student of this college.

The college has good infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: The college does not provide placements to the students. Eligibility to apply for a masters course is students should be a junior research fellow.

Infrastructure: Huge library with over 5,000 books on different subjects ranging from physics, chemistry, biology, literature, and linguistics, etc., are available. Air-conditioned reading rooms and huge classrooms with projector supported blackboards are available. Hostel food is standard. The campus and hostel premises are Wi-Fi enabled.

Faculty: Teachers were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and they were inductive for our proper learning. The course curriculum is highly relevant for preparing for any all India level masters entry examination. The course teaches the students from the basics to the advanced levels of physics.

Other: I have chosen this course because it teaches physics, a subject, and I like to study in detail. The college should provide an opportunity for live projects and work in real-life experimental scenarios. Scholarships are available and are given on merit basis.

Placements: Placement opportunities aren't available for the students of the physics (Hons.) department. However, with the help of its good reputation, anyone can avail a decent physics oriented job or students can also pursue M.Sc. from top IITs. If you are a bright student and want to study physics, Maulana Azad College is one of the finest colleges under Calcutta University.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is excellent. Labs are equipped with the necessary equipment. We have a good digital library. Classrooms are awesome. We also have a small canteen. Even the campus is small here. There are limited medical facilities. Digital games are often played, and digital game events are often organised here. The hostel facility is very poor.

Faculty: Faculty members of our college are good. Some guest teachers conduct lectures once a week. Some faculty members are very interactive with students. But there are some teachers also who don't interact well with students. Some teachers use audio-visual kits and slides to teach us. They also prepare notes for us. The teacher to student ratio is like 1:20. We also have non-teaching staff members and lab assistants.

The Best college under Calcutta University

Placements: My course was honours in Physics and generally, there is no direct placement in this course. You can apply for internships at different institutions according to your ability and as we know, a programming course Python is also included in our syllabus, so you can learn it and apply for placements yourself.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is quite good. The classrooms are maintained clean and they are large in size. There are good computers installed in the labs. And the instruments for Physics practical are also in very good condition. The hostel of the college is located close to the college and the rooms of the hostels are also sufficient for living. There is a mess of the hostel which is absolutely cheap and best.

Faculty: The teachers are highly educated and very helpful to the students. All the doubts are solved very clearly. They make the students industry-ready for sure. The semester exams are of intermediate level, which is good for the students. It makes them study hard and gain as much knowledge about the subject as they can. The pass percentage is 30%.

Other: I chose this course because I want to become a researcher. And for research purposes, Physics is the best course to go with. If you score good marks, then you can get a lot of scholarships, much more than your daily expenses. You won't even need any amount from your parents, you can manage your expenses with your scholarships only.
