MITID DAT Syllabus 2024 - The MIT Institute of Design will release the syllabus for the MITID DAT 2024 exam on its official website. The syllabus would be released at the time of the admission notification or sometime thereabout.

The MITID DAT 2024 syllabus would contain the topic-wise syllabus the candidate needs to prepare for the MITID DAT 2024 exam. It may be noted that the MITID DAT 2024 question paper will include questions only from the official syllabus. 

The candidate needs to ensure that they closely follow the official syllabus when preparing for the exam. This is because the questions asked in the MITID DAT 2024 exam will be taken from the topics given in the syllabus.

The MITID DAT 2024 exam was conducted on April 7, 2024.

Q:   What is the syllabus for MITID DAT?

A:

MITID DAT has not released any official syllabus. However, candidates are evaluated on their analytical skills, drawing skills, communcation skills. Know more about the syllabus of MITID DAT exam 2024.

The candidate is also urged to prepare previous year's papers. Another useful tool is sample papers, which is easily available in the market for top exams like NIFT, NID, etc. Use these sample papers.

 

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for MITID DAT?

A:

MITID DAT 2024 eligibility criteria for BDes course is Class 12 pass from any stream, whereas for MDes course, candidates should hold an undergraduate degree. It is mandatory for candidates to meet the eligibility criteria for the programs they are seeking admission to; only they he or she will be considered for admission.

Note that any candidate who don't meet the eligibility criteria could be disqualified at any stage of the admission process.

 

Q:   Is MITID DAT exam conducted as an online or offline exam?

A:

MITID DAT exam is conducted in both online and offline modes. Phase 1 of MITID DAT is held in online mode as a computer-based test and Phase-2 of the exam is to be attempted on a sheet provided inside the exam hall.

The candidate has to follow the official pattern when preparing for the exam. This will imrpove their chances of doing well in MITID DAT.

 

MIT DAT syllabus 2024

Candidates need to start their preparation for MITID DAT 2024 at least three months before the exam is scheduled.

As per the official website of DAT, candidates having the following abilities will be given preference for admission:

  • Sharp ability to analyse things, situations, contexts and to map the situation
  • Sharp ability to identify the constituent elements of a given thing or a situation and an overall assessment of the same (internalisation)
  • Sharp ability to synthesise, i.e., having an ability to interpret, plan and evolve directions or strategies to address any given situation or set of issues (attitude towards problem solving)
  • Ability to keenly observe any given thing or situation (keenness of perception). This goes beyond just "looking" at a thing rather than more of "seeing"
  • Ability to relevantly classify and categorise information which is being rolled out and thereby to find connections, relationships to draw rational inferences("pattern seeking")
  • Ability to "learn" as opposed to bookish knowledge. Capacity for learnability by being mentally agile and flexible (learning to learn)
  • From the above, capacity to generate knowledge and its application
  • Ability to handle different materials and media which may or may not be familiar
  • Ability to emphatise - being sensitive towards feelings, needs and emotions of others and to have an ability to relate oneself with others in various contexts, specific situations, events etc.
  • Having unbounded curiosity towards things, people, situations etc,. A sense of wonderment, having a constant urge to ask questions and an urge to find out the what's, whys, how's, when's about the world and beyond.
  • Being individualistic i.e., having independent viewpoints and convictions (as opposed to stubbornness)
  • Being very much aware about what is going on in the world and beyond and having a "worldview"
  • Good ability to communicate - both verbal communication and non-verbal communication(may be through drawing, sketching and other media)
  • Ability to function or work as a good team member
  • Having an ability to be tenacious - not "giving up" easily
  • Attitude towards neatness, precision and production of quality work

Q:   Who can participate in the MITID Studio Test and Personal Interview?

A:

Candidates are shortlisted for the Studio Test and Personal Interview based on their performance in the MIT DAT 2024 entrance test. The Studio Test and Personal Interview is the 2nd stage of the two-stage MITID DAT 2024 admission process. The 1st stage is the online written exam.

 

Q:   When will the MITID DAT 2024 entrance exam be conducted?

A:

The MITID DAT 2024 written exam was conducted on April 7, 2024. The question paper inlcuded both subjective and objective questions. The written exam is the 1st stage of the entrance exam and is used to shortlist candidates for a Studio Test & Personal Interview. The final results of MITID DAT 2024 is prepared by considering the perfomance of the candidate in the written exam and the Studio Test & Personal Interview. Any candidate who fails to appear in the 2nd stage of the exam will not be included in the merit list.

 

Q:   When will the MITID DAT Studio Test and Personal Interview be conducted for the M.Des programs?

A:

The Studio Test and Personal Interview for the M.Des programs was conducted from May 14-18, 2024. Candidates who have quaified in the written exams are eigible to appear in the Studio Test. 

The detailed shedule for the Studio Test and Interview is released on the admission portal of MIT Institute of Design. The candidate had to attend the exam as per the schedule and slot mentioned in the admit card.

Q:   What is the pattern of MITID DAT exam?

A:

DAT examination includes computer-based MCQ (objective) test, subjective test and offline drawing test. Objective and Descriptive Test is a Computer Based Test. Where in Objective Test candidates have to choose the correct option, in Descriptive Test they have to write the correct answer in the text box. Drawing Exam is an Offline Test. For this section candidates are provided A4 size drawing sheets to draw using Pens / Pencils / Colours etc. After the exam is over, the answer sheets are collected, scanned and uploaded for evaluation at the test centre.

 

Q:   When will be the final result of MITID DAT released for the B.Des and M.Des programs?

A:

The MITID 2024 final merit list for the B.Des program was released in May 15, 2024. The result will have to be checked online. In the log-in panel that opens, enter your candidate credentials.

The result will have the sectional and overall marks, and the qualifying status. Shortlisted candidates will be called for seat allotment.

 

Q:   When will the MITID DAT Studio Test and Personal Interview be conducted for the M.Des programs?

A:

The Studio Test and Personal Interview for the M.Des programs was conducted from May 14-18, 2024. Candidates who have quaified in the written exams are eigible to appear in the Studio Test.

Q:   What is the basis of admission to UG and PG design courses at MIT Institute of Design (MITID DAT)?

A:

The admission to design courses will be based on the final merit list which will be prepared by considering the peformance of the candidate in:

  1. MITID DAT 2024 entrance exam
  2. Studio Test and Personal Interview

It is mandatory for candidates to appear in all the stages of the entrance exam. If the candidate misses out on any stage, he or she will be disqualified.
