National Institute of Fashion Technology Kannur is a government institute established in 2008. It has a great infrastructure and is equipped with great facilities, well-equipped design studios, a well-stocked library, computer labs etc. It offers BDes programme for a duration of four years in four specialisations. Candidates are required to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam and the students are accepted on the basis of merit. The total seat intake is 176 and the total fee for the is INR 13,15,700 and thr Average Package offered was Rs4.1L.

NIFT is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The exam is conducted once every year and it consist of two parts, i.e, first one is, written exam and second is, situation test/personal interview.

• Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only BDes and MDes candidates need to take the CAT. 
• Situation Test/ Personal Interview - BDes candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is BFTech program, where the admission merit list will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.    

The FINAL score of NIFT 2024 for the other programs will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview.

The scores or merit rank of NIFT will be considered for admission to design courses offered by the NIFT participating institutes. Currently, there are 18 participating institutes that offer the following courses - BDes, MDes, BFTech, MFTech, and MFM courses.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) releases the official schedule at - niftadmissions. The schedule includes the event-wise dates related to the NIFT 2025 entrance exam. The National Institute of Technology (NIFT) will conduct the Situation Test for the B. Des programme tentatively in the 4th week of April 2023. The Situation Test will be held offline at various NIFT campuses. The candidate is given the option to select their preferred test centre soon after declaration of NIFT written exam results. On the day of the exam, the candidate needs to report at the exam centre as per the reporting time mentioned in the admit card. Note that candidates who arrive at the exam centre after commencement of the exam will not be allowed entry inside the exam hall.
