Placements: As a current student pursuing a B. Des in Fashion Design at NIFT, Kolkata, I can provide insights into the placement scenario. Approximately 85% of students in our batch secured placements in reputed fashion houses and design firms. The highest package offered was around 12 LPA, while the lowest was 4 LPA, with an average package of 6.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies include renowned names like Fabindia, Ritu Kumar, and Manish Malhotra. About 70% of students also landed internships in companies such as Sabyasachi, Anita Dongre, and Tarun Tahiliani. Top roles offered range from Fashion Designer to Merchandiser and Fashion Consultant.
Infrastructure: NIFT Kolkata offers excellent infrastructure for the Fashion Design course. NIFT has the best facility to make a career in fashion designing.
Placements: NIFT has a centralized placement process that allows companies to recruit students from any campus or programme within the institute. There are three facilitated avenues for placements:
On-campus placement: Companies visit the campus to hire students directly. Off-campus placements: Students participate in placement drives organized outside the campus. Pre-placement: some students receive job offers based on their performance during internships or industry projects.
Infrastructure: NIFT Kolkata has all the necessary facilities. The classrooms are very spacious and the labs have all the necessary tools. The hostel is maintained and has a free WI-FI facility. The canteen and mess food quality is also good. NIFT campuses generally have specialized infrastructure to support various aspects of the fashion design curriculum, This includes design studios, Pattern making labs, textile testing labs, CAD, and, more.
Faculty: NIFT campuses typically have experienced faculty members with expertise in different aspects of fashion and design industry professionals as guest lecturers, organizes of workshops, and facilitated internships and placements for students. This helps students gain real-world exposure and stay updated with industry trends. College has good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: 80% students were placed in my course. The highest package is 10 LPA, Average package is 4.5 LPA and the lowest package is 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies are H&M, Zara, Raymonds, Arvind, Hoffman etc. 20% got internship from my course in same companies. Top roles are Designer, Graphic Designer, Stylist, Garment Construction.
Infrastructure: In my college, they have proper classroom and Wi-Fi facilities. Labs has well equipments. Library has lot of books collection. Hostel has well furnishing room for students. College has sick room. Healthy food in canteen, sports and games for students' entertainment.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They have proper knowledge to guide students. This course is curriculum relevant. The college guide students for industry levels. Semester exams are not too much difficult, it is moderate for students. 80% is the pass percentage in our course.
Other: I'm passionate about this course that's why I chose this course. Events are organized by college.

Really good infrastructure.
Placements: 87 percent of students were placed in my course. The highest package offered was 30 LPA and the average package was almost 5–10 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Skybags, Raymond, Reebok, Nike, and Aditya Birla Fashion. Almost everyone got internships at top companies.
Infrastructure: All the facilities are good here. There is a free Wi-Fi connection throughout the college, large labs, and a modernized library for all students. The hostel facility is very nice and has great security. The food quality of the canteen is very good. There is a badminton court for the students.
Faculty: All the teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant for all. It makes the students ready for the future. Semester exams are not so difficult but you have to read all through the semester.

Best college in Kolkata for fashion designing and study in a rich culture.
Placements: 76% of students got placed in top fashion industry like Aditya Birla, Nike, Reebok, etc. And they offer the highest salary of 6 LPA to 8 LPA and the lowest of 4 LPA per year as an intern in fashion design or analyst. Most of our students got internships in pre-school fashion design in Kolkata.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is very fast in my college and there are 3 or 4 labs that are cleaned every day by staff members. The labs are highly organized with the best imported fabrics, and the classrooms have the best infrastructure with the best tables for at most 3 students together.
Faculty: Teachers in my department have already worked in the fashion industry and they are very special in this field. The college faculty is too supportive of industrial training and special classes regarding new fashion, foreign business and the architecture of fashion.
Other: I wanted to be a fashion designer and there is a big scope for fashion design in the near future.

Best college as a student.
Placements: 76% of students from my department got placed in top major companies like Aditya Birla Fashion, Nike, Raymond for internships as designers and market analysts. The college placement cell personally gives aptitude test practices, career counseling, and much more interview training for job purposes.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available for everyone in college and is faster than other networks available outside of college. Labs are always maintained with staff, and they are well-equipped with the best materials for fabric and clothing, as well as machines. Food quality is very good in my college, and there are many types of foods available for both veg and non-veg.
Faculty: Teachers are very highly friendly and qualified, and they are friendly in manners. Some of our teachers are very professional in teaching, and their skills in labs are very good for training us for industry work. There are notes and suggestions in the library for exam purposes.

Best college for fashion design and rich culture.
Placements: 87% of students got placed in top-quality fashion industries in my college, and there are a few internship opportunities in Aditya Birla Fashion Industry. The college placement cell is very careful in supporting career opportunities, with the highest salary offered at 17 LPA per annum and the lowest at 7 LPA to 6 LPA for fashion designers and analysts.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facilities are top-notch, and many times the Wi-Fi also covers the outside of the college. Sometimes I get the college Wi-Fi in my hostel as well. There are also separate Wi-Fi networks for the college hostel, and they are very fast. Hostels and classrooms are cleaned every day by staff; there is no problem with cleanliness.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified in their professional fields, and there are many teachers available for each subject. They help us in every way possible, and the main thing is they always treat us as friends. Every note and assignment are given to students before any exam.

I don't know whether the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata offers B.Des in fashion design course or not. But being alumni of LPU, I would say that LPU offer 3 years and 4-year course in this programme,

The basic eligibility criteria of B.Des courses of NIFT is 10+2 in any stream. The upper age limit for B.Des courses is 23 years and five years relaxation to reserved communities. The admission in B.Des courses are done through the Entrance exam conducted by NIFT generally conducted in the 3rd week

The direct way to get admission in NIFT is by clearing their exam and then clearing out the following GD/PI or the situation tests and getting a good rank if you want an established center.

Hi Sweta, yes fees will be different for those who are not appearing in the entrance exam. You need to pay a little bit higher amount.

Different designing colleges have different entrance exams. NIFT's entrance this year was in the month of January. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for next year now. Usually the dates are declared in the month of October when the admission forms are out.
