National Institute of Fashion Technology, kolkata offers Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme which is of 4 years. Admission to this course is based on required marks scored by student in NIFT entrance exam. The entrance exam includes Creative assesment test (CAT) and General Aptitude Test (GAT) the candidates who clears both of these are required to aplear for SAT which is the final selection. Student should not be older than 24 years old ( 29 years for SC/ST/ PWD category students) as on august 1 of the year of admission.

Number of students in B.Des programme depends on seat allocation within the All-India, state domicile, and NRI categories. In NIFT, across all participating institutes, a total of 5,215 seats are there. NIFT Delhi BDes admission 2026 cycle commences with the release of NIFT Entrance Exam dates. For admission to NIFT Kolkata, candidates needn to clear the e Th National Institute of Technology (NIFT).  The exam is conducted once every year and has TWO parts:

• Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only BDes candidates need to take the CAT. 
• Situation Test/ Personal Interview - BDes candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is BFTech program, where the admission merit list will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.    

The FINAL score of NIFT 2025 for the other programs will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview.

The highest package offered during NIFT Kolkata placements in recent past was INR 12 LPA. It was offered to the BDes students. The lowest and average packages offered to the students was INR 4 LPA and INR 7 LPA, respectively. It must be noted that these details are gathered from unofficial sources.
