The selection criteria for M.Tech at NIT Uttarakhand is as follows: 

Step 1: Candidates are required to appear for GATE.

In order to get admission to NIT Uttarakhand M.Tech course, students are required to take GATE. After GATE exam, they must appear for the CCMT counselling. It is a centralised counselling process conducted to allocate M.Tech seats. The regsitration fee for INR 3,500 for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and INR 3,000 for SC/ST/PwD. 

For admission to self supporting seats, the institute conducts an in house interview prcoess. To be considered for this process, students must fill out the institute level application form. Lastly, all students who are offered admissions must complete the document verification and fee payment process.

NIT Uttarakhand selects candidates based on valid JEE Main score for BTech courses. Candidates are further allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. MTech admission to the college is entrance based with the institute accepting GATE scores. Hereafter, shortlisted students are invited for CCMT Counselling.
