Candidate who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or those who are appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2023, are also eligible to appear. Yes, candidates can change their BTech branch at NIT Goa after the first year. A student admitted to a particular branch of the undergraduate programme will continue studying in that branch till completion. However, the Institute may permit a student admitted through JEE (Main)/DASA quota, to change from one branch of studies to another after the first two semesters.
To change the BTech branch at NIT Goa, candidates are required to complete the eligibility criteria laid down:
- Candidates must have completed all the credits required in the first two semesters of their studies in their first attempt.
- Branch changes are usually based on candidates' CGPA, which will be calculated based on candidates' scores of the beginning two semesters. Students need a high CGPA (often above 8.5 or 9.0) to be eligible and get a seat in another branch. Sometimes the seat also plays a major role in switching the BTech branch.

Nothing happens, if you have some medical reasons then you can submit the Medical report. But then you have to score well in the semester examination so that you will get good marks and won't fail. If someone fails in end semester exams then they will have to reappear, next year. So try to give internal exams, and do not miss them as it helps to score and have a good aggregate of marks which will ultimately increase your CGPA. In National Institute of Technology, Goa 40 percent seats are reserved for Goa state students. And 10 percent seats are reserved for Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, lakshadweep students (Home state). Rest 50 percent are seats reserved for All India quota.
