There are a total of 899 seats for BTech courses at NIT Srinagar. Each of the course specialisation has different seat intake. The highest number of seat count is for BTech in Civil Engineering - 183, followed by Mechanical Engineering - 117, and Electrical Engineering - 113. Students are admitted to the offered BTech programmes in accordance with the sanctioned seat intake. NIT Srinagar course admission is entrance-based. For admission to its BTech programme National Institute of Technology Srinagar accepts the JEE Main scores followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. For admission to its MSc and M.Tech programmes, NIT Srinagar accepts the IIT JAM and GATE scores, respectively. Furthermore, the National Institute of Technology Srinagar accepts national-level and state-level entrance exams such as CAT,  MAT, and CMAT for admission to its MBA programme.

The specialisation-wise cutoff is released as per merit in the entrance examination. For seat allotment, the aspirants rank is taken into consideration.
