Average colleges don't take your expectations very high while getting into NIT Srinagar.
Placements: NIT Srinagar offers better placements for CS/IT branches and decent placements for core branches. As I talked to my seniors, they told me that companies visit campus (like Nvidia, Microsoft, Oracle), but they offer only 2-3 job letters out of 100 students, which is not a good count. There is still a lack of skills in students to secure good placements on campus. It has around an 80 percent placement rate with a 10 LPA median salary, and the highest is 36 LPA. Roles offered to students are front-end developers & software developers.
Infrastructure: As a National institute, you expect a good infrastructure but it's not a good campus infrastructure. You may feel a lack of privacy and find it difficult to adjust at first in hostels. The canteen's facilities are not good, and you also get restrictions for visiting outside of campus and the hostel in terms of timing. You have to share a room with 5 students, and the room is not in very good condition. You will get Wi-Fi facilities. Department buildings are decent. Hostel food is not good. As you are also not allowed to not cook in the room yourself.
Faculty: The academic schedule is hectic, as you have to get 75 percent attendance with 9-5 classes. As a 1-year course, the curriculum is very irrelevant. Teachers are helpful, qualified (NIT/IITS), and knowledgeable. Depending on the curriculum, it does not make students industry-ready. The semester exams are tough, and you have to study well, you will get back for sure.
Other: I chose IT as I am interested in the tech field and want to have a good and bright future. A much more practical approach can lead to better courses. There are many events happening in college on a daily basis.

NIT Srinagar - National Institute of Technology .
Placements: In the last placement, Information Technology acquired more placements than the Computer Science branch. Top recruiting companies are Oracle and Big Basket. Around 60–80 percent students got placed. Students need to work on their skills to get a good placement like in any other place. At the end, it’s about skills because no company will hire a person who has no skills, even though he or she is from a reputed college.
Infrastructure: The campus is beautiful. Dal Lake is right beside the college. The campus is a little small though. In sports, there are basketball, volleyball, cricket, football, tennis, table tennis, chess, and carrom. There is a canteen, a cafeteria, and some stationery shops.
Faculty: Some of the faculty are good, but some are not that good in teaching but have knowledge. But it’s like this in every college. Faculty in the college have PhD's and degrees from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs. Some professors are known for being strict about attendance and assignments.

Review of NIT Srinagar - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: Mostly, around 70% of students get placed. Many companies and startups visit the campus, such as INCREFF, Microsoft, and MakeMyTrip. The top role offered is SDE, but it depends on the skills and performance of students. Most students opt for research internships in 3rd year for exploration, while many students also get paid online internships.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are very nice due to the cold environment here. Heaters are available in the classrooms. Smart boards are installed in each class, and medical facilities are very good, with a medical unit on campus. There is a big library that is open till 12 at night. Open-air campus Wi-Fi is also provided by the college.
Faculty: Faculty is highly educated. Their teaching quality is decent. They teach using smart boards, and some teachers use PPTs with visual presentations. The course curriculum is relevant, with coding, computer-related, and networking subjects that provide practical knowledge. The exams are moderate and depend on the subjects.
Other: I got into this college through my selection in JEE Main. The college crowd is good. There are two main fests held every one or two years, namely Rang Chinar and Techvaganza, and other small events are held every month. Each festival is celebrated with the same enthusiasm, which is a plus point. Extracurricular activities are also organized, with huge participation from students.

As NIT Srinagar is a Tier 3 college, then according to that, it is good.
Placements: In 2024-25, the IT branch recorded 140.57% placement. And this is among the highest placements in all branches at NIT Srinagar. The highest package offered is Rs. 35.5 LPA, and the average and median are Rs. 10.4-11.6 LPA and Rs 8-10.6 LPA, respectively. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, Microsoft, Google, etc. The percentage of students securing internships is 70-98% and common companies are Google, Microsoft, Infosys, Samsung, Amazon and other reputed IT firms. Top internship roles are Software Engineer, Developer, Full-Sack Developer, and Data Scientist.
Infrastructure: The IT department is good in the area, not as big as other NITs have, because the campus of NIT Srinagar is not very big. Wi-fi speed is decent throughout the campus, but in the library, wi-fi is top-notch. Hostels are decent, not top-notch. Food quality is low to medium, medical facilities are good, and sports and games are also very good. NIT Srinagar have a good enough playground, a common hall for indoor sports.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and knowledgeable. But not all the teachers are helpful, only some are. Teaching quality is decent enough. In the 1st year, many subjects were taught that are not needed for us to learn as IT students. I think the curriculum for 1st year is not that relevant. I think that the students should do hard work on their own to get industry-ready. Mid sem exams are not too difficult, not too easy, their difficulty level is decent. The passing percent is nearly 100% with only a few 4-5s getting back.
Other: I chose IT as my course because at this college, IT is one of the top-performing branches. I think for tech branches from the 1st year, they should only be taught those subjects that are necessary for their future. Recently, there was a fest Range-e-Chinar that was conducted in our college, which was good. There are a lot of extracurricular activities in college. And about scholarship, I don't think there is any scholarship for General Students.

The beauty of the Dal Lake and Kashmir.
Placements: 60 percent of IT students are placed every year, and placements are increasing year by year as new companies are approaching the campus. Companies like Google, Amazon, and Nvidia offer great packages to the students every year. Students should also struggle on their own.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in hostel as well as in the classrooms. Infrastructure of Labs and classrooms is quite good. Library is average it is small, it should be large so that more students are able to study in it. Quality of food in the hostel, as you know it is not so good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful for any work. Student should study on their own and practice for better results. Semester exams are not too tough that a 1st year student cannot do it. To pass the end term semester exams one has to get 40 marks out of 100.
