Candidates seeking admission are required to apply for the GATE exam to pursue M.Tech from NIT Surathkal. The aspirants with a valid GATE score become eligible to take part in CCMT Counselling. Further, admission is granted based on scores in the national-level exam, counselling, and cutoff marks.
Candidates seeking admission shall apply for GATE through the COAPS portal and take the entrance exam. Candidates with a Bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in an appropriate branch of Engineering of a minimum four-year duration with 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PwD) can apply. The students shortlisted based on GATE score are further required to appear for CCMT counselling following which the seat allotment is carried out.
No, admission to the M.Tech courses is only through GATE in NITs. There is no other provision for admission. Furthermore, after GATE, it is also crucial that the candidates with scores equal to or more than the cutoff take part in CCMT counselling. The final selection is based on merit in both selection rounds.
NITK Surathkal admits students through CCMT for all the M.Tech programmes. For all guidelines, the prospective candidates are advised to carefully read the information brochure and various other documents which will be available in CCMT website. Admission to a MTech. Programme is open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate
NIT Surathkal MTech total fees is INR 1.4 lakh. The final admission fee will be inclusive of other charges and hence will be more than the mentioned amount. It must be taken into account that the given fee is as per the past years’ fee structure and thus may vary. The institute publishes the fee structure on its website.
