To get a seat in the National Institute of Technology Warangal undergraduate, postgraduate and PG Dipolma courses, candidates must visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies to register themselves. Eligible candidates are then required to appear for the entrance test, followed by another selection process. Apart from these, to get a seat in NIT Warangal students are also required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria of the course.

To apply for the NIT Warangal MTech course, candidates must apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering also known as GATE. NIT Warangal admits students on the basis of candidates' performance in the GATE entrance test. The final selection is based on CCMT counselling process. The counselling body releases a cutoff list for each counselling round. Students with a score equal to or more than cutoff marks become eligible for seat allotment.
