North Eastern Regional Institute of Management offers courses MBA, PGDM, part-time MBA and BBA in the stream of Management Studies. Admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes is based on merit and entrance exam. For undergraduate courses, admission is based on merit. Admission to some postgraduate courses is based on MAT, CAT.

The North Eastern Regional Institute of Management was founded in Guwahati, Assam, in 1992. AICTE, NCTE, MHRD, & BCI have all given the North Eastern Regional Institute of Management their approval. For its numerous programmes, the Institution is affiliated with Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University, and Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU).

The Institute has a dedicated Placement Cell which provides Placement Assistance to all the students enrolled in different programmes of the Institute. This includes placement after successfully completing their Masters's Programme and Concurrent field work after each semester. The Placement Officer acts as a catalyst in facilitating the process of interaction between the students and the prospective representatives of the concerned recruiting Houses. Both on-campus and off-campus interviews are arranged regularly. Several Multinationals and reputed National Firms belonging to different sectors have been regularly recruiting students from the NERIM Group of Institutions from time to time. Since its inception, more than 500 Corporate Houses have recruited students till date.

Composite Score of 400 and above is considered a good MAT score. Most of the MBA colleges accepting MAT select students having MAT score in the range of 80 percentile to 99 percentile. A MAT percentile above 93 is considered ideal for admission into NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal and others.
MAT cut offs are fixed by participating institutes individually and vary from each other. The MAT cut off percentiles for MBA/PGDM admission at top colleges are usually between 80-95 percentile. The cut offs are used to shortlist candidates for the selection round which included Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Many good private B-Schools have MAT cut offs in the range of 70-80 percentile. MAT 2024 cut off for the participating colleges will be in the same range.
