Review of Siliguri Institute of Technology.
Placements: Approximately 50% of the students get placed through on-campus placement. From EE you can get marketing, analysis, technician and assistant manager roles in some companies. Companies like Byiju's, Third-Eye, Bosch, Cognizant and Microsoft visited our campus for recruitment. The highest salary package offered the previous year was 9 LPA by Byju's.
Infrastructure: Hostel is available only for first-year students. After the first year, you have to stay in a room on rent or PG. Hostel fee is around Rs. 6,000 per month, and you have to pay 6 months advance. The quality of the hostel room is good, it has a gym, TT room, carom board, and playing room.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are very good. According to the university syllabus, we don't have stream related subjects in the first year. The related subject starts in the second year. We have a well-organised lab for every subject and every lab is conducted within a formal routine.
Other: I chose EE because I already have some knowledge of EE. This stream is a core sector. We have a fest and sports in every semester. The entire campus is isolated from a Wi-Fi mesh network.

There were satisfactory faculty and placements in 2016. But the infrastructure is really good.
Placements: About 50% of the students got placed. The lowest salary package offered was 2.2 LPA, and the average salary package offered was 3.3 LPA, and the highest salary package offered was 6 LPA. TCS, Deloitte, Sri Ram Finance, IBS, Zomato were the top recruiters. The top roles were offered in the IT sector. In electrical engineer department, The salary package offered was 3.3 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA. Even if students don't get placed from college, then within 3,4 months they will all get placed in IT sectors.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was good, and the college was located in the foothills of Darjeeling district. There were air-conditioned library and labs. Huge playground, separate basketball and volleyball court, canteen, cafeteria, park are available inside the college. The hostel is located outside the college. Food quality is good here.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, knowledgeable and their teaching quality was moderate. Practicals provided here were good, and it all depends on students whether they gain or not. All facilities are available, and if students study well during their college, then they get ready for the industry.
Other: Inter-college sports, fests, social programs were organised every year. The college is nature-oriented, and you will like that.

Review of Siliguri Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placement activities in any college are organised under the supervision of the university, and the companies are approached by the professors and faculty of the college. Companies do not interact with students or visit the campus on their request. Placements are mainly handled by the placement cell of the college. From the last few years, a good number of placements have been achieved, and it will increase gradually.
Infrastructure: Apart from academic facilities such as the library, laboratories, workshops, computer centres, separate common rooms for boys and girls, and sports facilities, the campus has the facilities for leisure, convenience and utility as well. Sports facilities such as football ground, basketball court, badminton court, volleyball court, practice pitches for cricket along with other outdoor games facilities are available. A cafeteria is available in the college for students as well as visitors. Parking area for bikes and 4-wheelers are exclusively earmarked for students. The college has an electrical substation building to cater to the power needs of the entire campus. Water provided from underground water reservoirs and filtration plants will cater to the needs on the campus and also be utilised for fire fighting and irrigation systems. There are also sewerage and drainage systems along with rainwater harvesting system.
Faculty: The college offers almost 120 seats in electrical engineering, nearly 60 seats in civil engineering, 90 seats in ECE and CSE, 60 seats in IT and around 45 seats in management and catering technology. The duration of these courses is four years.

Students also asked

Q:   Is Siliguri Institute of Technology Tier 1 or Tier 2?
A:

In general, Siliguri Institute of Technology is categorized as a Tier 2 college. The primary reason is that it focuses a bit on the regional front and the ranking that goes behind it in West Bengal. Though there is always good infrastructure and decent placement probability, it does not enjoy national importance like Tier 1 colleges in the IITs and NITs. Still, this college has quite a good repute in the state to produce competent engineers and is known for its teaching acumen along with campus facilities.

Information about official rankings or placement reports by the institute itself should be sought for further details.
