The GATE exam is very prestigious among engineering and Science graduates. It is conducted every year by one of the IITs among the nine IITs. In 2024, IISc Bangalore conducted the GATE exam. Candidates are first required to register for the programme of their choice at SOT PDEU. The school shortlists candidates for most of the courses based on entrance exam scores. SOT PDEU admission to BTech is based on entrance exam score. Candidates can apply for BTech through JEE Main score. Admission to BTech is offered on All India and Government seats (ACPC Quota). Candidates can take admission in BTech Biotechnology through GUJCET score. Once selected, candidates are offered a seat in the university. 67% seats offered under All India Quota are filled based on JEE Main score and 33% offered under ACPC Quota are filled based on GUJCET score. Aspirants need to pay the programme fee after receiving the offer letter to confirm their seat in the university.

SOT PDEU BSc curriculum is divided into semester-pattern. Aspirants are required to study core and elective subjects throughout the programme and apart from this, a number of seminars also take place throughout the programme.
