
DEED syllabus 2026 - The DJ Academy of Design, Coimbatore, will release the syllabus for DEED 2026. The syllabus will be updated at the admission portal - djad.in/admission. The candidate needs to carefully go through the DEED 2026 official syllabus before starting their exam preparation.
By consulting the exam pattern, the candidate will learn about the question paper structure, question type, the marking scheme, total and section-wise questions, etc. The DEED 2026 question paper will only include questions from the official syllabus. Also, along with the syllabus, make it a point to refer to the DEED 2026 exam pattern.

DEED 2026 Work Portfolio Guidelines
DJ Academy of Design has issued guidelines for making a good portfolio, which are mentioned below:
1. Details about the portfolio
A Design portfolio is a collection of an aspirant's work, or a ‘visual diary’, displaying his/her skills and ideas that have developed over time. It demonstrates the creativity, personality, abilities, and commitment of an aspirant. It helps the interview panel to evaluate a candidate's innate potential for a career in Design.
2. How to make a good portfolio?
An aspirant's portfolio should mirror his/her personality and their own way of looking at the world. A candidate must show the interview panel that there is a special reason for allowing him/her in. Candidates are advised to create art that they are passionate about, art that is different from what other people are creating.
3. Things to include in a portfolio
A portfolio reflects the potential and not perfect executions of curious minds experimenting with designs. As per the design institute, the prime objective of the portfolio is to study a candidate's aptitude for a career in design and to assess their suitability to join the prestigious design school. A portfolio can be a compilation of Illustrations, Paintings, sculptures, Model making, DIY models, Collage, Photography, Graffiti, Wall art, Papercrafts, Hand sketches, and Digital arts. Apart from this, a candidate also has to include a brief introduction about themselves, their aspirations, and why they want to pursue a career in Design.
4. Organize portfolio
Candidates can organize their portfolio by following the steps given below:
- Collect all of your best works. Focus on original creativity rather than replication.
- Follow a standard format for all pages; it could be A4, A3, or a custom size.
- Convert your physical artwork into a digital format by scanning /taking photos. Keep in mind the background and quality of the scanning or photos.
- Compile all your scanned work images into a PDF by using many available online tools.
- Always remember to compress your compiled PDF to reduce the file size.
- Upload the created PDF portfolio onto the website (admission portal) to qualify for the personal interview.
5. Key Tips
Candidates can follow the tips for their portfolio:
- Focus on Quality and not quantity.
- Ideal Portfolio pages are from 15-30 pages.
- Keep the portfolio simple, uncluttered, and relevant.
- Give your workspace to breathe.
- Start and end your portfolio with your strongest pieces of work.
- Make sure that your portfolio shows variety.
- Show work that you can talk about at length.
6. Must include in your Portfolio
Object Drawings that show the understanding of the form. Sketches of various subjects. Sketches done from actual objects (Not from Photographs).
7. Things to avoid
Candidates are advised to refrain from copying other Artworks, Fan Art, Pirated or infringed work.
Candidates are advised to start preparing their portfolio and not forget to upload it along with their admission application to DJAD.

DEED 2026 Interview
During the personal interview, the design aptitude of applicants will be evaluated along with their skills in Sketching, Visualization, Creativity, and Sense of understanding & solving problems. The candidates must present a Work Portfolio (Portfolio of their work) to the panel of the selection jury during the Personal Interview. The portfolio could include any creative work done by the student (such as drawings, paintings, photographs, films/ videos made by the student, craftwork, projects, models, etc.) Candidates will also be asked questions based on their academic background and subjects studied.

The DEED application form is open for the current session. The application form is open online at the DEED 2026 admission portal. Candidates who want to apply for admission will have to register, apply and pay the application fee in order to appear in the entrance exam.
Applications submitted via offline mode will not be accepted. Also, make sure that applications are submitted before the last date.
Candidates should have passed class 12 in any stream from a recognised board with aggregate 50% marks to take admission in Bachelor of Design course. For Master of Design, candidates should have Bachelor's degree in any stream with an aggregate 50% marks. Candidates appearing in last semester of their Bachelor's degree can also apply.
DEED 2026 Eligibility: B.Des and M.Des
To be eligible for DEED B.Des admission:
- Candidates must have completed the 12th standard or its equivalent from any stream, recognized by State Boards or Central Boards (such as CBSE, ICSE, etc.), with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.
- Alternatively, candidates who have completed a three-year Diploma with 50% aggregate marks (after 10th Std) from any stream, from an institution recognized by AICTE/State Govt., are also eligible.
- Those currently appearing for or have completed these qualifying examinations before July of the year of admission to B.Des. can apply.
- The candidate’s age should not exceed 22 years as of 31st July in the year of application.
For M.Des

To be considered for admission to the BDes program, the candidate’s age should not exceed 22 years as of 31st July in the year of application. In case of the MDes program, the applicants should be more than 20 years of age and less than or equal to 25 years of age as of 31st July of the year of applying. Candidates will be considered for admission to the design courses on the basis of DEED 2025 scores.
Note that if the candidate doesn't meet the prescribed eligibility, his or her candidature could be cancelled at any stage of the admission process.
