SOFT CET 2025: Application (OPEN), Syllabus, Eligibility, Admission Process

The registration fee for all the programmes and categories is the same i.e. INR 4000. The application fee has to be paid online at the time of filling out the application form.

The registration fee once paid is not refundable.

So, be careful before you proceed to fill out the application form.

A student needs to appear for a General Ability Test, Studio Test, followed by a Personal Interview + Portfolio + Statement of Purpose in order to get a seat in colleges.

Note that all the stages are mandatory. This means if the candidate doesn't appear in any stage of the admission process, he or she will be disqualified.

Apart from Bachelors and Masters programme, the institute offers Industry Integrated Programmes with International Exposure at the Diploma level. The duration of these courses varies from 1 year to 3 years.

MKSSS's School of Fashion Technology, Pune, will release the syllabus for SOFT CET 2025 at the time of release of the application form. SOFT CET application form will open around the 3rd week of March 2025.

The candidate can download the syllabus from the portal.

The syllabus will include details like sections, section-wise topics, important topics, etc. Questions in the exam will be asked from the official syllabus. 

SOFT CET is a popular design entrance exam. So, the competition is going to be there, though not at the level of a NIFT or NID DAT.

That being said, you will ideally need around 4-5 months to complete the SOFT CET syllabus. Start you preparation, if you haven'r already.

As part of the preparation, make it a point to solve sample and previous years' question papers.

Questions in the SOFT CET 2025 exam will be asked from the official syllabus. So, the candidate needs to strictly follow the syllabus. 

Also, make sure that you don't follow any unofficial syllabus released by a third party.

Note that the official syllabus will be released by MKSSS's School of Fashion Technology, Pune.

Sample papers are very useful tools for exam preparation. So, if you are preparing for SOFT CET, you may start solving sample papers after, say, completing a chapter. 

The more sample papers you solve, the better you get a problem-solving and time management. Your understanding of key concepts will also improve as you go on solving problems.

Along with sample papers, also solve previous years' papers.

MKSSS's School of Fashion Technology, Pune, will conduct the SOFT CET 2025 exam starting sometime in the 4th week of May 2025. The admit card will be released a few days before the exam. The candidate has to download the admit card using theiir candidate credentials.

On the day of the exam, bring your admit card and a valid photo ID proof.

The SOFT CET exam will be conducted in THREE parts:

• General Ability  Test 
• Studio Test
• Personal Interview + Portfolio +Statement of Purpose

As you can see, the exam also includes a STUDIO Test.

All the three parts or sub-exams will be conducted on the same day. Note that the candidate has to appear in all the sub-exams.- If the candidate doesn't appear in of the sub-exams, he or she will not be included in the merit list. 

Candidates appearing in SOFT CET exam will have to appear in a Studio Test round, which will be conducted online via Google meet. The Google meet link (or Link 1) will be shared with the candidate one day prior to the groups.

The Studio Test will be held online from 11 am to 12.15 pm.

All instructions for the Studio Test will be shared with the candidate by moderators in the meet.

The SOFT CET 2025 exam will have the following THREE components:

• General Ability  Test 
• Studio Test
• Personal Interview + Portfolio +Statement of Purpose

The weightage carried by each of the exam components is shown in the table below.

MKSSS's School of Fashion Technology, Pune, will start the academic session around the last week of June 2025. The academic session will commence once counseling and seat allotment process is over.

The SOFT CET 2025 result will be announced sometime around the last week of May 2025. The result will be released in the form of a merit list.

The SOFT SET exam is conducted in three parts:

• General Ability  Test 
• Studio Test
• Personal Interview + Portfolio +Statement of Purpose

The personal interview will be conducted online via Google meet. The interview link will be shared with the candidate prior to the interview.

The interview will be conducted between 1 and 4 pm. At the time of the interview, the candidate needs to keep their portfolio ready.

Sample papers are good resources/ tools to prepare for a entrance exam like SOFT CET 2025.

You can buy sample papers for design entrance exam in the market. For instance, sample papers for NIFT, NID, UCEED, etc.

Solve sample papers as early as you can. 

By solving sample papers you can get exam ready.

Also, silly mistakes can be fixed by solving sample papers. You can also improve your problem-solving and time management.

The SOFT CET exam is conducted by MKSSS's School of Fashion Technology, Pune.

SOFT CET 2025 will be conducted tentatively in May 2025. The detailed scheduled will be released at the official admission portal.

The SOFT CET exam has the following components:

The final merit list of SOFT CET 2025 will be prepared by giving weightage to each of these test components.

The difficulty level of SOFT CET is not at the same level as say a NIFT, NID DAT, or UCEED. So, you don't exactly need to take coaching to prepare for the exam. That being said, if you are finding the syllabus extremly difficult, you may take help from a peer, teacher, or consider taking up coaching.

Also, even if you take coaching, your effort will decide your success.

NIFT, NID DAT, and UCEED are considered the three most important design entrance exams in the country. Consequentlty, they are the most competitive and amongst the toughest.

So, if you are preparing for NIFT, your preparation should be enough to appear in SOFT CET and get a good rank.

Note that SOFT CET may have low cut-offs, which will make admission easier.

The NID DAT exam is conducted for admission to the NIDs, which are amongst the top design colleges in the country. As such, NID DAT is amongst the toughest entrance exams in the country. In contrast, SOFT CET is comparatively easier.

So, which exam you decide to take will depend on your priorities and also to some extennt on your abilities. If you feel like your preparation is top level, you can try NID DAT.

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Des and Diploma design courses at MKSSS's School of Fashion Technology, Pune, need to take the SOFT CET entrance exam.

The SOFT CET entrance exam for B.Des will include the following steps:

The candidates are usually given 4 days in order to confirm their admissions. If the payment is not made within the given deadline, the seat will be cancelled and allocated to the candidate next in the order of merit.

Yes. Once the candidate registers successfully for the entrance exam, the authorities will email the sample question papers to them. The candidate can use the sample papers to prepare for the exam. 

The more sample papers one solves, the better one will get at solving various problems.

The authorities has released the SOFT CET 2024 Merit List on the official website. The candidate will have to download the merit list by logging into the candidate portal. Note that only such candidates who are included in the merit list will be considered for admission.

Yes. The exam dates for both the examinations is the same. As per the official website, all the examinations will be conducted on the same date. The candidate can check the detailed schedule in the admission portal.

The mode of SOFT CET 2025 exam will be released by the exam conducting body on its admission portal. The SOFT CET 2025 exam will be conducted in online mode only. The detailed exam pattern will include details like exam timings, types of questions asked, marking scheme, etc.

The candidate must follow the exam pattern thoroughly when preparing for the exam. Also, make sure that you consult the updated syllabus.

The candidate will have to pay a application fee at the time of registration. However, the registration fee for all the programmes is non-refundable and non-negotiable.

The online application form for NIFT 2025 is closed.

With regular fees, the application was open from November 22-January 6, 2025. With late fees, applications were accepted from Janaury 7-9, 2025.

The application was available online at niftadmissions.in. The NTA also released the detailed admission notification, including the eligibility criteria and information brochure.

Candidates who met the precribed eligibility criteria for their programme could fill out the NIFT 2025 application form before the last date.

Note that NIFT application form will be for admission to the B. Des, M.Des B.FTech M.FTech and MFM courses offered by participating colleges.
