The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani was founded in 1964. The three additional BITS campuses are situated in Goa, Hyderabad, and Dubai. Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani is placed fifth for Pharmacy in NIRF 2022 and has an A Grade from the NAAC. The BITS Pilani Rajasthan Deemed University is accredited by the UGC and provides UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs to students in management, engineering, pharmacy, and other fields through its 13 departments. It is one of the first six institutions to receive the designation of Institute of Eminence in 2018 and is supported by the Aditya Birla Group. The All-India computerised entrance test, or BITSAT, is administered by BITS (BITS Admission Test).

BITS Pilani Campus Area    

The BITS campus lies to the west of the Pilani bus terminal, and Pilani is situated 220 kilometers (140 miles) north of Jaipur and 200 kilometers (120 miles) west of Delhi. The campus covers 328 acres of area with a built area of 49 acres, of which the BITS building occupies 15 acres. On the campus, there are 7,069 square metres of lab space and 11,245 square metres of classroom space. Four spherical step levels in a temple that is lit up at night. Dedicated to the goddess Saraswati, BITS Pilani contains a Sharda Peeth that was constructed by GD Birla. The white marble temple has 70 pillars supporting its 7-foot high foundation. For the smooth delivery of lectures to a large number of students specialising in various fields of study, the campus is separated into various academic blocks. The New Academic Building is where most management course lectures are given (NAB). A library, computer labs, sports facilities, and food courts are some of the amenities available on the campus. The computer centres have the latest hardware and software, and the library is well-stocked with a wide range of books and journals. There are courts for games like cricket and football, as well as a gym and swimming pool. The campus is self-sufficient and has all the facilities and structures appropriate for an institution with international standards.

BITS Pilani Infrastructure and Facilities 

Computer Lab - A computer lab is maintained by the department of management close to the work area for the research scholars. This computer lab is open to department faculty, researchers and students. Students have access to the institute's cutting-edge Information Processing Center in addition to these two computer labs. The IPC serves the needs of all students and is situated across from the building housing the Department of Management.                                                                                                          Classrooms - There is enough room for everyone to sit comfortably in the classroom. Each classroom has central air conditioning, a computer, speakers, a projector, a screen, and a blackboard.                                                                                                                                                     

Library - The library has room for up to 8,000 students and offers 738 open-access study places and 246 open-access IT workstations. The library collection contains over half a million items, including:

• Around 3,000 current journal titles
• Over 20,000 electronic resources, including databases, journals and eBooks.
• A substantial media (CD and DVD) collection.

The library is searchable via the library catalog.  But it is not only the library you will have access to; as a BITS Pilani student, you can use a network of other libraries via the membership.                                                                                                                            

Labs – Labs are available for students of Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, Physics etc. 

Games and Sports facilities of BITS - Pilani: The institute provides a wide range of facilities to guarantee that the students have enough access to various sports and games. When students congregate willingly to play badminton, tennis, table tennis, squash, or boxing in the morning and evening, the Student Activity Center (SAC) is bustling with activity. This facility has a gym with equipment for members of the health club to use for aerobics, cardio, and weight training exercises. There are multiple playgrounds within the campus for playing football, cricket, basketball, hockey, volleyball and practicing other athletics sports. Besides these, all students’ hostels have facilities for indoor games like table tennis, badminton, chess, carrom, etc.                                                                                                                                      

Hostel and mess facilities - BITS Pilani offers dormitories for students. Basic services including air conditioning, internet access, and round-the-clock security are provided at the hostels. Also, every hostel features a common area where guests can unwind and mingle. The Institute is fully residential and hostel accommodation is provided to all students. Permission to become a day scholar may be granted only under exceptional circumstances for students whose parents or close relatives are residents of Pilani. There are eleven hostels for boys and one hostel complex for girls. The hostel rooms are fully furnished, with internet connectivity and common provision for water purifier and solar water heaters. Common room facilities with Cable TV and telephone are available in each hostel. There is a kitchen-cum-mess unit for every set of two boys' hostels. The Girls' hostel, however, has a separate mess of its own, situated within the boundary of the hostel. It is mandatory for the students staying in the hostel to have their food in the hostel messes. The messes attached to the hostels are fully managed by the students.
