Admission to dual degree programmes at IIIT Hyderabad is done basis UGEE/ DASA/ Olympiad (KVPY)/ Class 12 board exams followed by a personal interview. PhD students can take the relevant courses in the first one or two semesters, depending on the background, just like a student of MS by research. After the first year, the student works on clearing the PhD qualifying exam which tests his or her breadth of knowledge in the field of study. To be eligible, candidates must have completed a relevant MPhil or master's degree course.
