IISc Bangalore application process to begin soon

Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore admission process 2017 for postgraduate and PhD integrated programmes is set to commence from February 1, 2017 onwards.

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria for PG courses [Master of Technology (M Tech), Master of Design (MDes), and Master of Management (M Mgt)] as well as PhD courses can fill the IISc Bangalore application form in the online mode on the official website of the deemed university.

Candidates meeting either of the below-mentioned aspects fulfill IISc Bangalore eligibility criteria 2017 for PG course admissions:

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent.

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Statistics/ Mathematics/ Electronics followed by qualification obtained through an exam conducted by an institute recognized by UPSC/AICTE.

• A bachelor’s degree in Architecture/Design (only for candidates applying for M Des course admissions).

• A master’s degree in Science disciplines such as Computer Application/ Mathematical Sciences/ Physical Sciences/ Physics with Electronics/ Geology/ Instrumentation.

Besides the abovementioned criteria, candidates should also qualify the below-mentioned exams for PG course admissions at IISc Bangalore:

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for candidates applying for M Tech course.

• GATE/ Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) for candidates applying for MDes course.

• GATE/ Common Admission Test (CAT)/ Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) for candidates applying for M Mgt course.

If you belong to the General AI category, the JEE Advanced cutoff rank required for B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing was 856. Similarly, for B.Sc. (Research) specialisations, the cutoff rank required for admission in 2025 was 2263.

Yes, you can get a seat at IISc Banglore with a GATE score of 542, if you belong to the General AI category. Students can refer to the table beow to know which courses are available with this score based on the IISc Banglore GATE cutoff 2026 for round 1.

IISc Bangalore GATE cutoff 2026 for the ECE course for the General AI category was 650 in round 1. For the OBC AI category, the round 1 cutoff for the same course was 600. This difference in the score says that the competiton for the General AI category was higher than the OBC AI quota.
