If any student group in KIIT School of Engineering is not able to complete the project work within the stipulated duration, it may have to face serious problems, as it carries 8 credits of marks in the final semester.

Currently, KIIT has more than 90 ongoing projects & 169 research funding proposals from different funding agencies & clients.

Project is one of the most important parts of the Engineering program. It gives a chance to all the students to get practical & detailed knowledge of any topic as per their choice. Good project work can get you special recognition from your fellow batch mates and faculty members & a good placement too. Students at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology generally start their project work in the sixth semester & complete it by the eighth semester.

Group Project at KIIT School of Engineering

A group of six to seven students are formed initially and are allotted a project guide from the department, who continuously supports & monitors the progress of the work. Any change in the members or group needs prior approval from the guide. Students have the option of choosing their project topic/ area. They can also take help from the seniors regarding project work or any other issues.

All the groups start with a small report & PowerPoint presentation in which they mention what work they would be doing in the coming two semesters along with a brief introduction of the topic. All the observations along with detailed reports, observations & conclusions are then compiled & are presented in front of the allotted guide & some other senior professors from the department. After the completion of the project work, all the groups present their work to various professors, most probably at the end of the eighth semester, when the work is evaluated & grades are given to each student of the group. For the last two years, this school-level ‘Project Expo’ is conducted virtually for all schools. Some of the excellent works from all the branches of Engineering are then selected for showcasing their work at the university level. The shortlisted project works from all schools are then demonstrated thoroughly at the university level in presence of external experts and the best three are awarded. Project work must be done carefully, as it really helps in the long term. If the group is not able to complete the project work within the stipulated duration, it may have to face serious problems, as it carries 8 credits of marks in the final semester.
