By: Kandarp Patel
Kandarp discusses the overall analysis of JEE Main January 2020 paper subject-wise, including all shifts and dates.
So one of the most important and toughest entrance exams of India for Science students, JEE Main, is over (January session). So in this article, I will discuss the overall analysis of JEE Main January 2020 Paper subject-wise, including all shifts and dates. I hope that this analysis will help the students appearing for JEE Main in April or in the coming years.
Overall JEE Main 2020 January session exam level: Moderate
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
Chemistry
Overall Chemistry difficulty level: Easy to moderate
Nothing was asked out of the syllabus in Chemistry. In fact, some of the questions were asked as it is from NCERT books. So the students who had focused well on NCERT will have been surely benefited.
Almost each and every chapter was covered in the questions. Physical Chemistry questions were calculative types. At least one question each was asked from main topics in Chemistry. In Organic Chemistry, some tricky questions were asked. (They were not much difficult but one can only solve if one knows the concept).
Most asked topics: Electrochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Chemistry in daily life, Glucose, GOC, Substitution Elimination, Organic Compounds containing oxygen/nitrogen/halogen and Biomolecules
Physics
Overall Physics difficulty level: Moderate to difficult
As compared to last year, Physics section was easier this year. Some 10-14 questions in every paper were directly based on the formulas and they were easy to solve. But the paper or questions were bit more calculative.
And, 5-8 questions were based on Advanced and were difficult. These types of questions were found in each and every paper. These types of questions can really trap the students by consuming a lot of time. Ultimately, students have to leave out on some easy questions due to it.
Almost each and every important topic was tried to cover in the paper in the form questions.
Most asked topics: Mechanics, Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM), Waves, Modern Physics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Heat and Electrodynamics
Mathematics
Overall Mathematics difficulty level: Moderate to Difficult
This time Calculus was tough. Calculation process was lengthy and time-consuming. However, there were around 15 questions in every paper which were quite easy to solve by anyone. Probability questions were a bit difficult.
Every important topic was covered this time. Some few questions in every paper were advanced based this year.
Most Asked Topics: Permutation & Combination (P&C), Differential Calculus & Integral Calculus, Matrices & Determinants, Mathematical Induction, Binomial Theorem, Coordinate Geometry, Complex numbers, Probability, Statistics, Mathematical reasoning, Matrix, Vector & 3D, Trigonometry, Sequence & Series
Trend of last year questions or topics was less followed this year.
